Dell Consultant Solutions Architect (Virtustream/Cloud) in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Description:

The Dell EMC Hybrid Cloud Platforms team is responsible for developing next generation cloud solutions leveraging core and partner products and platforms. We deliver end to end solutions for IT infrastructures with a focus on Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Native Cloud Developer and Data Scientist Solutions for our customers. We architect, develop, test and document the complete solution stack, including converged and hyper-converged infrastructures, Dell Technologies partners such as VMware, RSA and Pivotal as well as third party applications.

We are looking for a Consultant Solutions Architect with extensive experience in architecting cloud infrastructure, preferably using Virtustream, and working with a globally diverse teams in an agile development environment.

Virtustream Hybrid Cloud focuses on the personas in the Platform 3 world of native cloud application development. The solution comprises automated delivery and management of development environments including platform deployment and day 2 management and reporting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the architecture of the Virtustream Hybrid Cloud solution from Dell EMC and work closely with the Solution Delivery Manager, Product Manager, and other leaders to ensure that it meets the business needs of the solution.

Responsible for design, definition and implementation of complex system requirements for customers, and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Ensures accurate root cause analysis based on issues. Develops and recommends corrective actions. May collaborate with technologists, systems engineers, and development management to oversee execution of deliverables by suppliers in an outsourced development model.

Principal Duties:

  • Designs and defines system requirements for complex customer systems, and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems.

  • Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

  • Coordinates design of subsystems and/or the integration of total systems or multiple functions. Responsible for design of assigned system/subsystem and meeting quality requirements.

  • Ensures the manufacturability, reliability and serviceability of designs. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies.

  • Develops and recommends corrective actions.

  • Responsible for benchmarking, testing and analysis on products during all phases of the development process.

  • Documents results in technical reports, white papers and online web pages.

  • Ensures assignments are completed within schedule and cost objectives. Responsible for the end-to-end ownership of assigned system(s).

  • Coordinates root cause analysis to solve issues including complex issues. Interfaces with technologists, development and marketing to define and optimize system performance and resolve performance problems.

  • Principal Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the proposal and delivery of multiple or complex systems

  • Negotiates interface decisions that affect and require integration of own work into the related project

  • Provides and is accountable for complex technical direction to other technical personnel to complete an engineering project, or may work alone, having significant responsibility on a complex, innovative or critical assignment

  • Delivers effective presentations and technical reports Works as part of a cross-functional team to take product from PFG through prototype and into production

  • Assists in presentations or topical discussions with customers

  • Assists or drives vendors to define features, functions and optimizations for industry leading differentiation

  • Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience

  • Required Skills

  • Excellent understanding of hybrid cloud system architectures

  • Excellent understanding of hardware and software interactions, and able to apply this understanding to resolve issues

  • Excellent understanding of cloud, virtualization, and infrastructure technologies, Dell EMC products and competitive product offerings

  • Ability to lead, motivate and direct a workgroup

  • Ability to influence others to achieve results

  • Desired Skills

  • Understanding of Virtustream cloud architecture and experience in the Virtustream cloud

  • Familiarity with SAP HANA use cases as they apply to hybrid cloud environments.

  • Experience with Dell EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Native Hybrid Cloud, or equivalent systems.
