Job Highlights The MITRE Satellite Communication department has an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic technical team having substantial impact on the design and development of next generation DoD communication systems. While our work focuses on radios/terminals that communicate with satellites, we are also responsible for developing communication capabilities that span space, aerial, terrestrial, nuclear and cyber military domains.
The early career engineer has the opportunity to utilize and develop their technical skills in disciplines such as: system engineering, system architectures, RF design, signal processing, embedded system design, networking or modeling and simulation.
Apply sound engineering principles to:
Define and evaluate communication system architectures.
Evaluate the design and performance of communication systems and sub-systems, including testing in live or lab environments.
Perform system trade studies.
Identify risks and develop technical solutions including
prototyping activities and proof of concept initiatives.
Location MA: Bedford Campus
Currently pursuing or recently received a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar fields with an interest in communications or other relevant technical discipline.
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, plus 2 years relevant work experience including co-op or internship.
Course work or experience in communication systems, communications theory, digital signal processing, hardware and software design concepts
Familiarity with satellite communication systems, knowledge of nuclear command and control communications, or understanding of impact of nuclear effects to communication systems.
Proficiency in the use of computer simulation and analysis tools (e.g., Mathematica, MATLAB, Systems Tool Kit, or OPNET) for modeling and simulation of communications systems.
Strong hierarchical problem solving skills
Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deliver effective briefings.
Work effectively in a team environment.
Minimum Education/ Experience BS
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to 5 % of the time as well as some local travel.
