A business system analyst has the responsibility to conduct business analysis, requirements analysis and validation for the design, acquisition, configuration, and implementation of software solutions. He / she leverages project management tools to create business case documentation. Additionally, he / she needs to be able to create, configure, automate and run test scripts. A business system analyst works closely with product owners, scrum masters and software developers to deliver end-to-end custom applications.


  • Obtain application / system requirements through methods such as interviews, document analysis, requirement workshops, etc.

  • Perform analysis about costs, benefits, risks and feasibility of design and implementation of proposed system

  • Collaborate with product owners and scrum masters to prioritize epics and elaborate user stories

  • Document business requirements for software development projects in a clear and concise language

  • Assist developers to translate business requirements into technical requirements

  • Design and implement testing plans for custom application development - Work with developers to remediate any issues found in application tests

  • Prepare and provide organization wide communications (e.g., meeting agendas, meeting minutes, etc.)

  • Escalate any project related issues or potential impediments to a project's schedule or deliverable

Skills Requires:

  • General knowledge of agile software development concepts and processes (e.g., scrum, Kanban, etc.)

  • Understanding of DevOps principles (e.g., continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts)

  • Familiarity in user story elaboration in conjunction with product owners and scrum masters

  • Ability to clearly translate business requirements into technical requirements

  • Prior experience with business case documentation using project management tools such as Jira

  • Ability to analyze and document complex business processes and propose redesigns or areas for improvements

  • Demonstrated ownership of test plan development and iteration-level testing

  • Prior experience creating, configuring, automating and running test scripts (e.g., user acceptance testing) for complex applications

  • Understanding and comfort with the latest technologies used in the development, testing and monitoring of custom applications within a cloud environment
