As the Connected Travel Lead, your role is to build a practice focused on connected services for the travel industry, to learn, build and educate on new technologies, and to work with the Accenture Travel and Digital groups to take those products to market.
This role is half way between technical product management, technical architecture and software engineering. It requires someone with a passion for technology, who understands product management, who has the acumen to identify business drivers, and who has a demonstrated experience in the Travel industry.

A background in Engineering or Computer Science with an emphasis on systems or software engineering.
You can architect, code and/or stand up large systems.

This role is part of the Internet of Things Engineering Team. The IoT Engineering Team is a global group focusing on the development and incubation of new IoT products, platforms and technologies. Our function is to provide expertise in the underlying technology enablement of the IoT, with a focus on architectures, prototyping, and integrations. We are part of the Accenture Emerging Technology group.
Emerging Technology is a global group responsible for incubating the next generation of Accenture’s technology services. Working with Advanced Technology & Architecture and Technology Labs, it provides specialized services to identify, pursue and deliver new technologies with pioneering clients.
Up to 100% travel is required.
Develop new technical assets, prototypes, demos, products and systems
Develop thought leadership and educational material
Lead a team’s client engagements and operational metrics.
1 years of experience with testing using TDD or BDD
1 years of experienced with API development
Experienced with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (e.g. Jenkins, BuildBot, etc)
Experience in developing high performing client-side applications
Experience in defining one or more following architecture aspects: Availability, Maintainability, Operability, Scalability and Portability.
Hospitality systems like Opera, Micros are key.
Agile Methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/XP)
Version Control (git/github)
Bash (find, grep, cp, mv, less, top, etc.)
Basic networking (ip vs. MAC, basic OSI, protocols – http/s, ssh, tcp, sockets, etc.)
Infrastructure competence (OS familiarity, virtual, cloud, package mgmt/install services, Docker/PCF)
Basic data formats (json, xml, SQL/NoSQL, csv)
IoT relevant communication technologies: MQTT, AMQP, HTTP/s, RFID, BLE, Zigbee, Z-Wave, 802.11,x
IoT relevant architecture patterns: Pub/Sub, Event-Driven, Microservices
