KleerMail Ruby on Rails Developer in Boston, Massachusetts
KleerMail is looking for a strong Ruby on Rails developer with a passion and knack for web development to contribute to the implementation of our Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product offerings. You will be joining a talented, highly collaborative team dedicated to providing the best possible user experience for our clients.
The candidate will work as part of a cross-functional Agile SCRUM team to implement new features in short sprints, taking requirements inputs from our product manager and guidance from engineering leadership, while working with front-end developers to fully integrate back-end functionality with the presentation layer. They will participate in feature estimation, write automated unit and feature tests for their code, submit all code for peer review and make any necessary adjustments, and participate in peer reviews of other developers’ code.
We will need you to be really good at:
Ruby 2, Rails 4, RSpec, and Capybara
Rails architecture, code organization, performance, and best practices
SQL (We use PostgreSQL)
GIT and GitHub (if you use other SCC systems, like SVN, you’ll be fine)
Agile/SCRUM, preferably having used an AGILE project management tool like Pivotal Tracker or Jira (we use the former)
Understanding web application security issues and solutions
Score some bonus points if you have knowledge of/experience with:
Amazon Web Services – as many as possible!
Visualization and big data processing techniques
CSS preprocessors (we use SCSS)
Application scalability problems and solutions (we need people who understand the scalability impact of all code they write)
In addition, we’ll likely get along really well if you:
Ask for assistance rather than spending hours searching for how something works.
Constantly reflect on clean code, re-use, and modularization (humor is not the only thing you like DRY)
Are a software engineering purist at heart, but a pragmatist in practice (do it well, but “done is better than perfect”)
Feel mildly ashamed when QA finds a hole you didn't think of
Are passionate about web technology and staying on the cutting edge
2-5 years of consumer-facing Ruby on Rails experience
Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A strong work ethic, and highly collaborative, success-oriented attitude
Must be able to work on site for collaboration hours
Great teams deserve great benefits!
