SAP Senior Project Manager Job in Boston, Massachusetts
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Senior Project Manager who will actively take on the responsibility for overall management of multiple projects, seeing them through life cycle completion.
The successful candidate will possess the relevant qualifications and a high level of business acumen in order to manage large scale, high risk, strategic projects, spanning organisational boundaries including multiple business units. This role also provides the opportunity for leadership exposure to cross functional teams, who will be responsible for delivering defined project outputs to meet time, budget and project quality criteria.
The successful candidate will be responsible for project management methodology practices, offering the opportunity to provide project manager mentoring. In addition to this, there will be lots of opportunity to establish successful closure, whilst also ensuring the acceptance and sign-off by all parties.
This role also involves liaison with:
Executive Management (Customer, SAP and Partner Management)
Program Manager, Client CIO, Project Sponsor, Steering Committee, and Client Project Manager.
Project teams (Customer, SAP and partner resources).
SAP internal support organization.
SAP Project Management Community.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS:
To take an active participation in project planning activities, whilst managing the execution of large scale, high risk, or strategic projects according to plan (Discovery & Evaluation, Initiating to Closing).
To be able to evaluate complex situations accurately and identify viable solutions that create a successful outcome for the customer.
The management of project stakeholder relationships, including internal and external clients, and keeping stakeholders informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on all project requirements and deliverables.
Be a self-starter with a view to not only manage and communicate a clear vision of project objectives, but to motivate the project team in their achievement; creating a project environment that enables peak performance by team members.
A positive and proactive mind-set in order to identify changes in work scope, ensuring appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external stakeholders to reassess and amend the relevant requirements, budget and timeline.
The Management of project financials, including budgeting and estimate to actual variance.
Able to analyse risk, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibilities for initiating mitigating action.
Using initiative to escalate early project-related issues to account management
A pro-active desire to manage project stakeholder satisfaction to position and secure customer reference and success story.
An aptitude for determining the constitution of successful closure for all parties, whilst also ensuring the acceptance and sign-off by all parties once this closure is attained.
COACHING AND MENTORING:
To undertake the performance of Project Reviews
The mentoring of project managers on project management methodology, standards and processes.
Coach to clarify assignments and deliverables to project team; review quality of work and manage integration of team members’ work; provide performance input to project team members’ functional management
Maintain project documentation and updates in relation to relevant knowledge management bases; analyse lessons learned and share with organisation’s project management community.
Demonstrate enthusiasm by way of participation in the development of project management best practices.
8 years of project management experience in large scale, high risk, or strategic projects, involving SAP technology.
Demonstrated experience leading cross functional teams within a formalized methodology.
Demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining project deliverables such as: project charter, project management plan, status reports, project timesheets, communications plan, budget and schedule.
Demonstrated experience in managing issues, scope and quality while bring projects to successful completion within the cost and time requirements.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Undergraduate University degree, preferably in commerce, engineering or information technologies; or equivalent training and job experience.
Master’s degree, as above - MBA an asset.
PMP certification and /or other industry; project management certifications.
PMM methodology Certification/ASAP Toolset Proficiency.
Liaison and consultative skills, within a context of high political sensitivity and conflicting interests.
Strong writing, mentoring, decision making, communication, and meeting facilitation skills with a matched ability to utilize a combination of formal authority and persuasion skill sets.
Ability to train and mentor project managers or teams in project management methodologies.
Knowledge of the strategic and operational issues of the project management business unit.
A clear vision of what determines a successful project for the customer and enterprise.
Knowledge of and competency in project management processes including planning tasks, resource allocation, risk, time and financial management, HR and quality management, monitoring, reporting and documenting.
A flexible and adaptable person, able to manage pressure relating to deadlines, ambiguity and change.
Strong leadership focus with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills in relation to team members with different disciplines and varying degrees of technical experience; an ability to display competence in concise and tactful communication with colleagues at all levels, including senior executive management.
