What’s the role?

Demo Services organization provides the hardware and software utilized

by Oracle Corporation Sales Consultants as they demonstrate the value

propositions of all Oracle Products.

Demo Services maintains thousands of individual virtual machines hosting

nearly every Oracle product including the Oracle Database, WebLogic Server, and

other Web products. Demo Services also

host Oracle Fusion Applications (i.e Sales Cloud), PeopleSoft, Siebel CRM, Oracle

eBusiness Suite and others.

The entry level Systems Analyst will receive training to be responsible

for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and

maintenance of the software and related infrastructure utilized by Demo

Services. This individual works with a

global team of people that ensure the hardware, operating systems, software

systems and related procedures are designed and maintained in accordance with

organizational standards and industry best practices.

You will be a member of a global team supporting the following

systems: Linux & Windows systems

that support Demo infrastructure; Linux and Application systems that support

orchestration of the Demo Services Fleet as well as the Demo Services

Reservation application.

Responsibilities on these systems include provisioning, operations and

support, maintenance, and research and development to ensure continual

innovation.

What will I do?

Engineering & Provisioning

  • Youwill learn to install, configure, patch, test, and maintain Operating Systems,Databases, Application Servers and in-house applications management tools inhigh availability configurations and always adhering to best practices andorganizational standards.

  • OracleLinux 5, 6, 7

  • Oracle12c Database Single Instance and Real Application Clusters (RAC)

  • Oracle12c Dataguard

  • Oracle12c Weblogic Suite

  • OracleBusiness Intelligence, Enterprise Edition (OBIEE)

  • ServiceOriented Architecture (SOA)

  • OracleApplication Express

  • You’llgrow to develop, maintain, and document installation and configurationprocedures

  • Contributeto and maintain security, backup, and high availability strategies for allInfrastructure related services

  • Researchand recommend innovative and/or automated approaches for maintaining theInfrastructure.

  • Write/maintaincustom scripts to increase efficiency and lower human intervention time(primarily bash, perl or SQL related)

  • Research,diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions to resolve issues

Operations and Support

  • Youwill learn to manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure(Production and Non-production) that includes but is not limited to:

  • Oracle12c Weblogic Servers

  • Oracle12c HTTP Servers

  • ServiceOriented Architecture (SOA)

  • Samba

  • Oracle12c Databases

  • Convergencee-mail servers

  • MCollective

  • bbitMq

  • Informatica

  • OracleIdentity Manager

  • OracleAccess Manager

  • You’llgrow your skills to monitor and test system or application performance issues,identify solutions and work with the appropriate partner team to implementfixes (ex: Development, Network, StorageTeams) using Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c, custom bash and perl scripts, orother innovative technology supported by the organization

  • Youwill manage incidents related to the application infrastructure reported as aresult of monitoring activities or raised via the ticketing system inaccordance with existing service level agreements

  • Participatein quarterly disaster recovery testing where services fail over to anothergeographic location

  • Participatein scheduled maintenance activities as required

What are you looking for in acandidate?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSdegree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering,Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • GPA– 3.2 or greater

  • Technicalknowledge includes:

  • Previousexperience with Unix/Linux systems, utilities and scripting

  • Previousexperience with configuring databases; Oracle RDBMS is a plus

  • Useand understanding of Virtual Machines; using Oracle XEN is a plus

  • Previousexposure to web application servers; Oracle Weblogic 12c and Oracle HTTPconfiguration is a plus

  • Previousexposure to basic networking

  • Possessan understanding of message-oriented middleware; RabbitMq and MCollectiveClusters is a plus

  • Possessan understanding of Hardware load balancers

  • Strongproblem solving, and excellent customer-facing skills

  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills

  • Workswell individually and in a team setting

  • Abilityto work under pressure and time constraints

  • Commitmentto quality, and attention to detail

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Monitor the fundamental server/network capacity. Determine the characteristics of a problem and either resolve the problem immediately and/or record, escalate, and track the problem through to closure and to the customer

  • s satisfaction.

Work involves some problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and procedures. BS in Computer Science or related field.
