In this role you’ll be responsible for the installation and maintenance of IDBS’ on premise and customers’ private cloud systems. You’ll need to be able to troubleshoot customer infrastructure issues and lead the resolution with a customer’s IT department or with a customer’s IT partners, balancing day to day technical troubleshooting with Customer system upgrades and migrations of IDBS’ award-winning Enterprise Software to ensure Customer Success.

And you’ll be part of the global team that helps customers accelerate their journey to the latest generation of our award-winning Cloud solution.

In the role you will:

  • Manage the installation, support and maintenance of software & hardware infrastructure for deployments, deploying highly available and fault tolerant production systems.

  • Work closely with the development & test departments to ensure that the customer’s environments are correctly sized and are designed correctly to scale per customer needs.

  • Provide technical direction and play a lead role in managing on premise customer deployments to ensure all the right security, backup, failover, alerting and disaster recovery mechanisms are in place.

  • Introduce and manage the right level of qualification and testing procedures for change and configuration management in the on premise environment.

  • Work with IDBS’ development and QA teams to enhance installation and deployment issues and take preventative action for Continuous Improvement. Act as a quality gate for software installation and deployment documentation that is proved by development.

  • Work with our domain experts within our professional services teams and, if appropriate, IDBS’ partner(s) to ensure a successful customer deployment, every time.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate policy and procedure with regard to quality and information security and performance of Customer systems.

  • Maintain and improve quality and information security management systems and best practice.

  • Support certification and customer audits of IDBS management systems and performance either directly or through team work.

  • Gain an understanding of and knowledge in the customer usage of the application.

So, are you sounding interested so far? Let’s tell you what skills and experience we need you to bring to IDBS. In an ideal world, you’ll have:

  • Experience with load balancers and web servers. Managing and configuring Nginx, Apache, HA proxy etc.

  • Debugging network issues using common open source tools (tcpdump, wireshark etc).

  • Configuration management (infrastructure as code) and version control.

  • Demonstrate strong ability in UNIX shell scripting.

  • Able to effectively use monitoring systems (e.g. Nagios, Zenoss) and other reporting tools

  • Able to set up and support MongoDB or other NoSQL Databases.

And if you’ve any of the following that would be great:

  • Security - web/api design/certificates.

  • Remote Desktop/Citrix.

  • Experience of running production systems in the Cloud

Reporting to our System Administator Team Lead who is based out of our head office in the UK, you’ll work from our downtown Boston office, supporting our customers on their journey to our Cloud Platform no matter where in the world they are based. This means that there may be occasions when you need to travel but we don’t expect this to be a significant amount. Additionally, there will be some occasional, on call out of hours support.
