NiSource Corrosion Technician in Brockton, Massachusetts

Purpose:Administer and provide technical guidance for the Corrosion Control program for assigned field locations. Responsibilities: Reviewing technical data and information from plant and service activities to ensure that cathodic protection systems remain effective

Designing cathodic protection systems and directing company employees and/or contract crews in their installations

Monitoring, evaluating, and repairing existing cathodic protection systems

Troubleshooting and ensuring the repair of all types of cathodic protection devices

Ensuring that facility data base is maintained through WMS and reviewing WMS corrosion reports and verifying accuracy

Training personnel in various aspects of corrosion functions.

Required for Selection:

Two (2) years operations experience or equivalent technical experience. Three (3) years of plant field experience is preferred.

Strong organizational/planning skills and a commitment to getting the job done.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to establish rapport with internal and external customers.

Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret technical data with respect to inventory maps.

Electrical and mechanical aptitudes in order to maintain corrosion equipment.

Experience with PC applications (Word, Excel, etc)

Must be self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision.

Must be detail oriented and able to complete required documentation.

Must be able to handle multiple projects and work effectively under deadlines and changing priorities and conditions.

Must have demonstrated skills in decision-making and problem solving.

Must have a valid drivers license and be able to operate company vehicles.

Preferred for Selection:

Working knowledge of Company Work Management Systems.

Familiar with GIS Company record keeping systems.

Knowledge of CMA corrosion policies/procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

NACE certification

Additional InformationTraining will be provided to successful candidate. Qualified candidates may be eligible for Corrosion Technician 2This position is subject to DOT Anti-Drug Plan and AMPP regulations.Some travel may be required. Must be able to work scheduled and non-scheduled overtime.This position will report to the Corrosion Front Line Leader.

High school diploma or equivalent. Two-year technical degree is preferred.
