Information System Security Engineer (ISSE)

Description

L3 Advanced Programs is looking for a self-starting and team-oriented Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join a dynamic team of engineers supporting a Government Customer. The successful candidate will have theability to work both independently with little supervision as well as in a team environment.

Duties:

The ISSE will provide support to the ISSM for maintaining the appropriate security posture of systems accredited under ICD503, NISPOM Chapter 8, etc. The ISSE assists with the management of security aspects of the information system and performs day-to-day security operations of the system. The ISSE provides support to the customer on matters involving the security of the information system and assists in maintenance to ensure the system accreditation. This includes developing and updating the system security plan, as well as managing and controlling changes to the system and assessing the security impact of those changes. The ISSE also provides support to plan, coordinate, and implement IT security programs and policies and provides configuration management for security-relevant information system software, hardware, and firmware. The ISSE will also assist the ISSM with continuous monitoring of accredited systems.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Experience with ICD503 and NISPOM Chapter 8

  • Familiarity with multiple intelligence community and DSS system accreditation procedures

  • Produce security artifacts as required (SSP, mitigation reports, POAMs, etc.)

  • Communicate with teammates and customer personnel

  • Experience hardening Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Experience with vulnerability and compliance scanning tools (WASSP, Nessus, SCAP, etc.)

  • Experience implementing the Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or other related technical disciplines is required.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in IC/DOD IA role

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly

  • Active CISSP certification

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Additional Information Assurance certifications

  • XACTA experience

  • Strong investigative drive and self-motivation

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Understanding of system vulnerabilities and exploitation and vulnerability mitigation

Position can be hired at level 4 or 5.
