Principal Design Verification Engineer - Microelectronics

Preferred Qualifications

This team is responsible for ensuring hardware designs (ASICs and SOCs) that are part of Oracle's next-generation Server/Cloud hardware products are functionality correct and meet the highest quality standards prior to being manufactured.

As part of this effort, the Principal Design Verification Engineer will use sophisticated object oriented programming methods to develop test benches that serve to verify all aspects of a given architecture and its implementation. Included in this work is

developing test bench components (stimulus generators, checkers, coverage

objects, directed/random tests, etc) and resolving/debugging failures


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architecture and will

have 7 years experience developing sophisticated verification environments.

This position requires good communication skills, verbal and written and the

ability to work in both small and large teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years experience in verification

  • Strong background in developing test bench architecture using OO techniques

  • Ability to work independently

  • Experience with System Verilog, VCS, scripting languages and UVM

  • SVA assertions and functional coverage

  • HDL coverage (VCS Coverage Metrics)

  • Test bench development, using pseudo-random and coverage-based techniques

  • Test plan development and progress tracking

  • Experience in stand-alone test bench development (multi-block or ASIC


  • Good debugging skills in bug triage and analysis, and simulation


  • Strong leadership skills

Nice to have:

  • Post-silicon bring-up and validation

  • Experience with PCIe protocol

  • Experience with DDR3/DDR4

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.

Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market. Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of engineering or related experience.
