Application Development Consultant (State Street Bank and Trust Company; Cambridge, Massachusetts): The Application Development Consultant is responsible for the architecture and design of State Street’s database systems. The position requires a combination of skills characterized by complexity across econometrics algorithms implementation into a distributed, very large data environment to facilitate financial research prototypes and products creation. Responsible for: the design and implementation of end to end data topology for a variety of large financial data models; support the Product Performance and Quality Assurance, Consistency and Compliance including the creation, back testing, documentation, and performance tracking of financial models; design, implement, performance tune, and perform real time process optimization for complex, large data mining and financial econometric algorithms; as a technical leader demonstrate an understanding of the impact of the problems across the organization and facilitate a collaborative solution; perform highly sophisticated and technical analysis to test concepts and/or theories for solving problems and/or making decision; provide support and training to new Business/IT team members to understand the Data Access Policy and their limitations; build and support model validation and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan; communicate and coordinate with multiple Corporation level teams including Architecture, Infrastructure, Compliance, and Disaster Recovery and follow/operate within specific Corporation policy and guidelines; work with Business teams to create or enhance Quantitative financial models using multiple Asset Classes; build, deploy, operate, and support financial models; create and review financial model documentation and procedures; and track performance and monitor compliance with controls around model usage.
Minimum requirements are: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, plus 6 years of experience in the development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Must have: ability to perform database and SQL tuning; experience with Oracle database; quantitative data analysis skills including the creation, back testing, documentation and performance tracking of financial models to support product performance, quality assurance, consistency, and compliance; extensive experience implementing financial algorithms in PL/SQL, DB internals, Very Large DB, and/or RAC Systems, Autosys, Spotfire from design to implementation including performance tuning and real time process optimization for complex, large data mining and econometrics algorithms; and demonstrated hands on leadership experience communicating and coordinating with multiple corporation level teams or departments.
