About the Job
Do you like to solve problems that few people have encountered before?
Are you energized by asynchronous technical challenges that come at great velocity and scale?
Do you like your work to matter in a way that directly impacts customers?
Our certificate platform helps our clients handle hundreds of billions of dollars in e-commerce transactions and the technical challenges have two unique dimensions: The problems are often non-obvious and the on-the-fly solutions need to be designed in such a way that they can become automated responses to future events with the same signatures. The problems you solve today become preemptive patches that keep the world's biggest e-commerce players secure.
Join the world’s leader in connecting the increasingly mobile world. Akamai is coupling its core technological strengths with recent strategic acquisitions to dominate the developing mobile landscape.
We are seeking a passionate, product-focused developer who thrives on delivering exceptional results and delighting customers. The person in this role will be joining the team working on our tools for managing sensitive customer data and certificates which make our network what it is. Engineers who work in our portal utilize the core technologies of Akamai to present services, products, and solutions to customers.
About the Team
Our team is part of the Web Performance Engineering organization, which has responsibility for the technologies that power our Certificate provisioning and management tools. These products enable the security of our customers’ web sites and APIs.
This software engineer will play a major role in enhancing and rebuilding our tools which manage SSL certificates in the deployed network. The team has produced a whole new infrastructure, and integrated with many other internal Akamai systems.
The certificate management tools are critical infrastructure for the business, and highly visible to other teams in Web Performance, Media, and Security Bus.
You will work in a highly cross-functional capacity, partnering with product management, quality assurance, technical writers, and service delivery professionals.
The initial application work will involve working with the team to understand the workflows being implemented, coding in Java and Python, building an enterprise-class application.
There is lots of follow-on work, in other applications which fill out the management framework, as well as reporting, big-data mining, and generally improving the functionality of our tools.
Leadership skills are important; a candidate who is interested will have opportunities to steer the direction of these projects, and have substantial influence on our business.
You will participate in the design, development, testing and deployment of management, reporting and alerting functions for mobile and other Site products.
