Overview

As a Senior Solutions Engineer at Akamai you will actively drive and manage the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, work in conjunction with the sales team as a key technical advisor and advocate for our products. In this role, you must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. This role also requires an ability to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts, establish and maintain strong relationships, and ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. As a Senior Solutions Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering product demonstrations and POC’s

  • Representing the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.

  • Responding to functional and technical elements of RFI’s/RFP’s

  • Establishing technical relationships, becoming a trusted advisor and providing technical leadership

  • Conveying customer requirements to Product Management teams and other stakeholders

  • Approximately 30% regional travel

About the Team

The Akamai Digital Performance Management (DPM) SE team is the pre-sales technical face and voice of Akamai and the primary technical resource for the sales force. Akamai’s DPM products include CloudTest (load and performance testing) and mPulse (real user monitoring, front-end web performance).

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or

  • 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or

  • 3 years of relevant experience and a PhD

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in technical pre-sales/sales engineering or similar role delivering technical products or services

  • 5+ years of experience with front-end web technologies

Desired Skills

  • Experience with load/performance testing

  • Excellent communication, listening, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize workload among changing priorities

  • Experience with FEO techniques

  • Experience with at least one programming/scripting language

  • Experience with one or more APM tools


Ability to collaborate across all roles (presales, sales, post-sales, engineering) in a global, geographically distributed organization

  • A proven track record demonstrating good business judgment, an ability to make decisions, and a passion for excellence

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, drive for results, interpersonal savvy and customer focus
