• Broad knowledge of technical platforms, including enterprise applications

• Broad knowledge of standards and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS, SMTP, RPC, LDAP, Web Services

Additional Qualifications:• Extensive knowledge of Active Directory including security, administration, delegation, and Group Policy, in a large, distributed enterprise network

• Experience with FIM account synchronization to Office 365 and troubleshooting issues with federated accounts. Understanding identity management concepts including user attribute mapping, provisioning flows and object privacy.

• Experience working in an Agile software development team

• Training and experience in ITIL and Agile methodologies

• Experience configuring and supporting monitoring and logging tools, including SCOM, SCCM, and Splunk

• Experience with AWS and Azure cloud

• Ability to understand C#, VBscript, .NET and Visual Studio code

• Experience with SMTP routing and message hygiene services, particularly Proofpoint

Reporting to the Director of Information Security Architecture and Engineering, and working with the Identity and Access Management team, the Senior Active Directory Engineer is passionate about building and supporting secure and resilient Active Directory (AD) environments and to continual improvement of a robust AD environment.

As a member of the Harvard community, this individual will work collaboratively, developing solid working relationships with HUIT customers, staff, management, consultants and vendors. This individual will also provide mentorship and guidance to HUIT technical teams, building awareness of AD best practices and operational procedures. This engineer will be part of the team to support a suite of applications and services with the primary responsibility of supporting the “Tier 0” (most sensitive) Active Directory Infrastructure. The AD Engineer will support the automation, maintenance, and operation of the Windows AD infrastructure including the provisioning and authentication environment and ancillary services such as Forefront Identity Manager, and ADFS.

Primary responsibilities include Active Directory configuration, administration, monitoring, operational, and service issues within the Windows 2012 Active Directory environment including. schema management, domain controllers, directory integration, object provisioning, Group Policies, advanced permissions delegation, automation, and other AD and Exchange related activities in both the on-premises and cloud environments.

In addition to these primary responsibilities the AD Engineer will work with a major two year project that is rearchitecting the University Active Directory solutions to improve resiliency, reliability, and security. The AD Engineer will also play an important role assisting with escalated incidents in the production environment, and be part of an on-call rotation. Other duties as needed or required.
