Staples Associate Scientist in Framingham, Massachusetts
Position Summary: The Associate Scientist is responsible for supporting research, development, and deployment of data-science based applications at Staples such as SKU demand forecasting engine, promotional analytics, inventory markdown service, robotic execution system, order fulfilment logic, warehouse productivity optimization solution, and transportation optimization routines by closely working with key business, analytical, and technical partners.
The ideal candidate will have: • A strong foundation in data science • Hands-on programming experience • Solid problem-solving skills
Basic Requirements: • PhD, MS, or Undergrad in Computer Science or Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or related field • 2-3 years of hands-on experience with advanced machine learning, data mining, statistical inference, optimal control, mathematical modeling, or mathematical optimization techniques and technologies • Solid foundation in object oriented programming, data structures, and experience with implementing advance algorithms • Excellent ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred: • Experience with data science and data engineering toolsets • Understanding of parallel and distributed computing • Comfortable with service oriented architecture • Know-how of web application systems & technologies • The ability to think big, manage ambiguity to move quickly, and deliver results in an entrepreneurial environment • Fearless but thoughtful in their pursuit of results
