SQA Automation Engineer

Bose Corporation is seeking a talented SQA Automation Engineer to join our SoundTouch wireless speaker group. You will be working with a team that has the tradition of creating the market leading speakers, home theater systems, and award winning head set products.

Position Overview:

As an automation SQA engineer, you should demonstrate knowledge of quality assurance principals in the realm of both manual and automated testing of software products designed around hardware platforms.

In this role, partnering with Software Development, you will be required to quickly learn our existing automation infrastructure and frameworks, and suggest future optimizations and enhancements to this infrastructure in collaboration with other automation engineers. As you work within feature development teams you will be expected to identify, document, create, and execute tests that verify the delivery of regression free, high quality software.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Create and execute test strategies for manual and automation tests developed for specific product features running on an embedded Linux system

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain code designed to integrate on-site & in cloud virtual environments

  • Monitor automated nightly test runs, analyzing the results, and quickly being able to target and fix build & test failures.

  • Begin to integrate various DevOps practices into our SQA processes and Continuous Integration initiatives.

  • Maintenance of existing automated test infrastructure, along with suggesting improvements



  • 10+ years of experience with Software Quality Assurance methodologies, with knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall techniques

  • 10+ years experience with automation of firmware/software that runs on embedded Linux systems, ideally using Python and shelling scripting

  • Experience with building automation utilizing modern cloud technologies and tool chains (VMs, Docker, AWS, etc.)

  • Experience with version control systems subversion and Git

  • Experience managing Jenkins and creating workflows/jobs for continuous integration testing and deployments. This includes setting up automatic code pulls from git/svn, packaging it into containers, starting automated tests, and reporting results via dashboards

  • Experience with API testing techniques

  • Knowledge of common networking protocols used in a home LAN environment (TCP/IP, DHCP, UPnP, SSDP, HTTP, Web-sockets, etc.)

  • Experience testing interactivity of desktop (Windows and OS X) and mobile applications (iOS and Android) controlling hardware products

  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to interface with product management, development, and customer support.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience testing Wifi standards (802.11x, WPA2, etc.) and Bluetooth on hardware and software products

  • Experience with Python testing frameworks used in automation (unittest, pytest, nose, etc.)

  • Experience using tools to troubleshoot networking issues (e.g., Wireshark)

  • Experience testing consumer audio hardware and/or software products
