Solidus is looking for a Systems Engineer to provide engineering support and perform as the engineering interface to our client’s program and B-2 organizations.

This position supports various systems engineering activities consistent with the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS). The JMPS will be used by the Air Force, Navy, and Army to plan aviation missions, replacing the various mission planning systems used today.As a Systems Engineer for the B-2 Mission Planning program office, the position is responsible for overall management of the B-2 Mission Planning Environment (MPE) requirements definition, design, development, and fielding recommendations.

The Systems Engineer also provides technical oversight of current Mission Planning System (MPS) Core based software and input into the development of future Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) capabilities.As part of a Platform Engineering team, and working closely with the Government customer, the systems engineer will perform the following specific activities for their assigned components:

  • Perform technical evaluations of new B-2 systems, such as communications or weapons systems, for impact to B-2 Mission Planning

  • Perform software development evaluations of contractor processes and systems

  • Review software capabilities and current deficiencies in both the current MPS Core application and future JMPS Framework/Common Capabilities; advocate B-2 requirements when required Perform technical evaluations of changes to interfacing systems, such as MPS Core, Common Low Observable Autorouter (CLOAR)

  • Identify common requirements among System-level Specifications for Mission Planning Systems associated with bomber platforms

  • Participate in B-2 and MPS Core program design and technical reviews to include requirements definition, requirement rack and stacks, incremental design and implementation reviews, TRRs, ECP reviews, and FCA/PCA

  • Assess lessons learned from FQT, Developer Evaluations, User Evaluations, Test Readiness Reviews, Development Tests, and Operational Tests; provide feedback to developers

  • Conduct Technical Proposal Evaluation

  • Develop and recommend risk mitigation strategies

  • Technical CDRL Reviews

  • Travel/Participation in pertinent Mission Planning Technical Meetings, In-Process Reviews, and Issue meetings at various field locations


  • Able to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance preferred ; ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance required

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical discipline and 5+ years experience

  • Six (6) years of general experience is considered equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree

  • With a Master's Degree, three (3) years of general experience is required

  • Thorough knowledge of systems engineering concepts and experience in applying these concepts to large, software

  • intensive systems

  • Experience with US Department of Defense (DoD) system development and acquisition processes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as required to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other systems engineers in the development of complex software systems

  • Experience with aviation mission planning systems or other military applications is desired
