Kronos Cloud is seeking a Data Architect to join our Cloud Architecture team. This position is responsible for designing and owning Postgres Plus Advanced Server and Datastax DSE Cassandra implementations in a public Cloud offering. Candidate should be well versed in RDBMS and NoSQL database technologies from an implementation, management, supportability, availability, and performance perspective. Candidate should also have a good understanding of Web based, multi-tiered java based applications and how these types of applications interact with the aforementioned databases. Designing solutions surrounding automation, scaling out/up, backup/recovery, monitoring, logging, and security will be a critical aspect of this position. Candidate will work closely with operational DBAs and Developers to ensure that designs meet functional needs.•Gather requirements from Stakeholders regarding Database needs•Design Backup/Recovery, including DR, solutions for both PPAS and Cassandra in public Cloud•Design Supportability strategy (monitoring/logging) solutions for both PPAS and Cassandra in public Cloud•Develop Maintenance strategy for PPAS and Cassandra•Design Upgrade strategy for PPAS and Cassandra•Provide specific best practice guidelines on all aspects of PPAS and Cassandra implementation•Work with Support teams to develop runbooks on troubleshooting database related issues•Work with Engineering teams to ensure designs adhere to Cloud Operations requirements•Develop automation strategies and processes for implementing, scaling, and recovering for both PPAS and Cassandra•Develop solutions to issues related to public Cloud offerings like snapshots, storage buckets, and more•Deliver best-in-class Support to all stakeholders•Work closely with Performance Engineering to ensure implementation designs, maintenance activities, application design, and several other factors are in line application performance guidelines
•B.S. in Computer Science, related fields or commensurate work experience (M.S. in Computer Science preferred)•5+ years project experience deploying cloud solutions (Google Cloud and AWS)•5+ years architecting and implementing NoSQL databases (Cassandra experience is an Added Advantage)•10+ years architecting and implementing relational databases (PPAS experience is an Added Advantage)•5+ years experience with java based, multi-tiered web applications•Practical experience sizing hardware and storage needs•Strong analytical problem solving ability•Good presentation skills•Good written and verbal communication skills•Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a project team•Performance analysis, troubleshooting and remediation techniques•Understanding of cloud ecosystem and leading edge cloud emerging technologies#LI-POST
