Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work as technical lead and system architect in the design and development of complex electro mechanical devices and systems

  • Work closely with mechanical, software and system engineering team members to resolve issues, leading to timely release of market relevant products

  • Collaborate with external contract design and manufacturing teams

  • Responsible for integration of sub-systems, direct contribution to overall system integration

  • Generate and maintain product requirements and specifications, develop test methods, conduct and document verification and validation activities in support of Regulatory submissions

  • Responsible for selection/design of critical system components that meet program objectives for performance, cost and timing

  • Prepares system architecture layouts, schematics and detailed drawings and assemblies

  • Directs and coordinates manufacturing of prototype systems in support of development activities, pre-clinical activities as well as customer interface activities (tradeshows and advisory board meetings)

  • Prepare and participate in scheduled technical and status meetings, present results to project review board

  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications

  • Monitors progress and status of all assigned projects and reports progress and problems to management on a timely basis

  • Ability to document complex designs including: system requirements, theory of operation, schematics, interconnect diagrams, test procedures, test reports, risk analysis, and failure analysis

  • Demonstrated success in taking designs from concept to production

  • Experience with reliability testing and design for manufacturability

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work on abstract problems with limited direction

  • Demonstrate understanding of the FDA/QSR design control process for medical devices

  • Experience with FDA regulated medical devices is required

  • Excellent English skills, written and spoken

Education

  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Experience

  • 5+ years in medical device R&D

Additional Details

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to repetitively lift and carry product weighing approximately 30 lbs
