National Grid Sr. Supervisor Telecom in North Andover, Massachusetts
The role holder is responsible for the operation, maintenance and construction of telecommunications facilities on the National Grid Electric System in New England. The job requires the daily supervision and organization of both internal technicians and external contractors in order to effectively and efficiently accomplish job tasks in line with departmental and National Grid requirements.
_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_
Oversee the operational workload of team; ensuring allocated staff is fully utilized in order to deliver against agreed program of work.
Ensure supervised team complies with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day to day relationship with them in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with National Grid policies and processes.
Maintain compliance with relevant regulations by providing up to date information on National Grid policies, processes and programs to regulatory bodies.
Promote and implement procedural best practice within the team in order to ensure all working practices are compliant with National Grid policies and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and challenge business processes where appropriate in order to ensure National Grid is compliant with regulatory requirements.
Prepare and maintain contracts with vendors and monitor and approve all vendor invoices.
Supervise third party attachments for attachments group.
Support for RoIP and Fiber systems and Land Mobile Radio systems for Operations.
Make recommendations and provide engineering support for the upgrade of communications infrastructure.
_Knowledge & Experience Required:_
A Bachelor's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering with three years of experience in telecommunications, metering, Scada, two way radio, microwave and fiber systems, or similar technical field and up to 3 years’ of related experience, or the equivalent to ‘on the job’ training programs with practical experience of methods, processes and techniques relevant to area or discipline or an Associate’s Degree in a related area with five years’ experience in applicable disciplines.
Must have experience managing a team with the ability to build effective, respectful, working relationships.
