Core to this vision is Risk. We are seeking a leader to: manage, oversee and coordinate a critical program supporting the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS ) Common Framework (ComFrame) Field Testing and other risk related regulatory demands; coordinate and submit ERM communications for MassMutual s Board of Directors and Enterprise Risk Committee; and manage and continue to enhance the Company s risk appetite process. The VP will require strong leadership, influence, strategy, collaboration and project management skills. He/she will work across the enterprise to deliver mandates of the role.
The manager is responsible for coordinating the aggregation, compilation and communicating of timely responses to the IAIS and MassMutual s regulators. The manager will lead an intra-company working group and interact with at least MassMutual s Chief Financial Officer, Chief Enterprise Risk Officer, Corporate Controller, and MassMutual s government relations teams on ComFrame and other risk related regulatory proposals.
He/she is responsible for coordination of production of financial risk appetite components, analyses, mitigation plans, and presentation for division, ERC and Board meetings. Presentations to include explanations of quarterly results, risk concerns, modeling or assumption changes, mitigations, and drive the overall strategy to enhance and improve timeliness and financial reporting to support risk.
Reports to: Chief Enterprise Risk Officer
ComFrame Program Management:
Manage the process for the responses to ComFrame Field Testing and summarize effects on MassMutual s business. This requires:
Understanding MassMutual s financial reporting, capital and financial exposures, and ERM framework;
Staying current with ComFrame and related industry developments;
Developing and leading execution of a field testing plan and regular communications with stakeholders and interested parties ;
Maintaining model governance and documentation standards sufficient to defend responses internally;
Lead execution and organize/finalize communication to regulators and IAIS on ComFrame; and
Providing periodic reports to the Enterprise Risk Committee and Steering Committee on progress, cost, issues, etc. for Field Testing, ComFrame in general, and capital standard implications
Board of Directors/Enterprise Risk Committee Reporting & Communications:
Coordinate, clarify themes and messages, and manage ERM communications to board and risk management committee
Analyze and coordinate production of financial risk appetite components.
Summarize risk appetite analyses in presentations suitable for focused Enterprise Risk Committee meetings, explaining quarterly results and any deviations from trend;
Work with ERM Risk Leaders to determine appropriate mitigation actions
Document model and assumption changes
Develop and implement improvement plan to enhance timeliness and quality of financial risk appetite reporting working with relevant MassMutual parties
Relationship and Change Management:
Business relationship management across the Enterprise. Partners with peers and senior business leaders to support risk environment.
Build relationships with the lean organization to effectively enable and support continuous improvement initiatives across ERM.
Coordinate with Government Relations to participate in ACLI and other industry venues on risk management topics to represent MassMutual s interest
Advocate for needed change across the organization that add to success of the division. Ensure the implementation of change with appropriate communications, goals, resources, metrics and reviews. Actively communicate the purpose, strategy and status of change efforts. Take ownership and personal responsibility for implementing change addressing questions and resistance with confidence and understanding.
Requisite skills and experience include:
Demonstrated success in managing a portfolio of complex risk management/finance projects
Broad experience/understanding of enterprise risk management, insurance financial reporting and capital standards, and insurance state and federal regulation
Cross-enterprise project management experience
Strong communications skills and comfort operating at the CXO level
Ability to collaborate with / influence related efforts across the organization
Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
