Senior Application Analyst – Security and Core Foundations
A Senior Application Analyst in this role is part of a team that builds and supports a highly integrated EMR, using a standardized approach across a nationally recognized health care system.
This position supports the daily maintenance, surveillance and support of the foundations of Health Information System at Baystate Health.
Responsibilities also include the participation and planning for the installation and testing of Cerner service packages, analysis to anticipate system requirement changes or modifications and the skill sets required to complete the Cerner recommended configuration changes as they relate to Cerner’s Core foundations. The incumbent in this position possesses a deep knowledge of the application infrastructure, and can work collaboratively with the technical support teams in complex analysis, design and problem solving.
The senior analyst in this role is responsible for identifying issues and is independent in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues within the electronic record, working directly with the Application Architect and other Application Analysts.
The incumbent will work collaboratively with the interface teams for inbound and outbound interface testing and integration points, and be knowledgeable in the tools that support those functions.
The senior analyst in this role will be required to have a demonstrated proficiency in building the location hierarchy, maintaining code sets, troubleshooting HL7 messages, and managing application security.
Daily activities may include code set maintenance, and aliasing, application security procedures and personnel maintenance using HNAUser.
The analyst in this role will work closely with the clinical and medical informatics team to understand desired outcomes, and work independently to develop functional and technical specifications, workflow diagrams, testing scripts and supporting documentation.
The analyst in this role must work collaboratively with other analysts, engineers, architects, team leads, managers and business partners to collaborate on system design, build and testing.
The incumbent in this position will perform project management and leadership, including detailed project plan tasks, timelines and milestone reporting, in collaboration and alignment with the BH Project Management Office. They will work closely with business partners to review the status of work and projects in process, prioritize new efforts and assist in identifying new opportunities to improve operations and clinical workflows.
These activities require skills in independent decision making, application design and configuration, complex problem solving, leadership, system analysis, customer service, team work, organization, and excellent written and verbal communication.
What You Will Do:
Experience supporting the Cerner suite of applications
Experience designing and building Organizations, Locations and Nursing units
Experience building and maintaining codesets, including inbound and outbound aliasing
Demonstrated proficiency in designing and building security processes using Prefmaint, Preference Manager, and Privmaint.
Demonstrated knowledge of App Groups, and Task Access
Demonstrated proficiency in the daily creation and maintence of personnel using HNAUser, including personnel aliasing.
Experience in an acute or ambulatory clinical setting, with an understanding of clinical workflows that support patient care.
Previous experience supporting Cerner applications
Eagerness to learn as well as mentor others
Ability to perform independent research
Demonstrated competency in Excel/Microsoft Word/Outlook and VISIO
Essential Functions Include
Documentation of Functional and Technical specifications
Documentation of Current and Future State, as well as gap analysis
Leading or participating in all testing events
Deliverables will include detailed build documentation, development and maintenance of unit, regression, and integrated test plans.
Here is what you will need:
High School diploma/GED required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
5+ years experience in supporting Cerner application suites
Strong Analytical Skills
