The Application Consultant manages the impact of technology implementation to optimize clinical work processes. The Application Consultant analyzes business and client processes to integrate and align applications to Cerner standards and client’s needs. They resolve customer concerns raised during installation, operation, maintenance, or product application, along with compatibility matters. The Application Consultant must have expertise in diagnosing problems and coordinating the appropriate additional resources to determine and deliver resolution


  • Demonstrates broad solution knowledge

  • Develops and maintains solution expertise

  • Leads PowerChart Ambulatory and other systems project activities (e.g., implementations, upgrades, enhancements, patches)

  • Serves as PowerChart subject matter expert (SME) on project team

  • Serves as the onsite point of contact for project issue resolution and triage for supported applications

  • Responds to client inquiries via telephone, email or chat sessions

  • Utilizes effective oral and written communication skills to facilitate discussions and decision making

  • Articulates the end-user requirements and proposed solutions to clarify and control expectations and achieve user acceptance of the application

  • Identifies, develops, and utilizes appropriate forums to solicit input and provide feedback to support the design, education, implementation, evaluation, and modification of the application

  • Participates in design, build and testing for application specific projects as needed

  • Leverages internal and external resources and tools to deliver problem identification and resolution

  • Maintains client relationship through direct onsite contact

  • Complies with standards for change control and work plans. Insures appropriate communication and documentation is completed in order to support application quality programs and application development

  • Works in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures

  • Collaborates with leadership and stakeholders on an ongoing basis

  • Utilizes project tracking tools to monitor tasks, project timelines, issues and risks on assigned projects.

Basic Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year experience with PowerChart Ambulatory or experience with workflow for ambulatory clinics or outpatient practices.
