Reporting to the VP Business Technology, the Director of Data Warehouse & Reporting will lead/build a team of highly skilled software engineers through the application development lifecycle. This person will be responsible for establishing, directing and implementing a global strategy in support of the governance of critical data assets. This role requires a balance of management/leadership responsibilities with approximately 20% of time dedicated to hands on technical contribution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Lead the architecture, design and development of the Clinical Effectiveness cloud-based Enterprise Data Warehouse database and ETL environment
•Define the Data Warehouse and BI roadmaps, with complete execution and delivery, including the overall maintenance and long term sustainability of the BI environment
•Lead the evaluation of new technologies including Proof of concepts, performance testing, and vendor evaluations
•Continuous focus and participation in developing and refining best practice methodologies for Data Warehouse projects
•Responsible for the successful end-to-end implementation of assigned projects and support related business activities
•Develop strong relationships with key business sponsors by understanding their business objectives and translating business requirements into technical solutions
•Enable and configure high quality data by implementing a Master Data Management platform allowing for best practice data quality and validation strategies
•Lead project meetings with business sponsors and technical staff including requirements gathering sessions, architecture design, and project plan review
•Escalate data concerns, highlight trends and recommend solutions
•Perform requirements gathering, data-model and how to best visualize business data, followed by design, deployment, on-going enhancements and production support
•Own production of all company-wide reporting, including working with various departmental dashboards, executive and company-wide dashboards
•Serve as a technical resource for helping other teams instrument their own systems (e.g. Customer Success Operations systems, Sales Operations systems) to support their required workflows and metric tracking, reporting and analytics
•Provide oversight and leadership to the Data Management team.
•Serve as key thought leader in the development of a global data roadmap, business intelligence and data strategy.
•Manage the Data Warehouse development staff and cultivate an environment that motivates and fosters high performance.
•Manage priorities, resource allocation, and workloads for on team while developing an off shore capability.
•Conduct performance reviews and development plans for staff.
•Provide prioritization, project oversight and guidance on large scale data-related or data-intensive initiatives
•Manage scope of work within budgetary constraints.
Qualifications: JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Management or related field.
•10+ years’ experience in Information Technology with at least 5+ years specializing in DW/BI analysis and reporting systems
•Minimum of 5+ years of in increased leadership experience, preferably in data and/or software engineering
•Extensive experience in one or more database technologies: MS SQL, Oracle DBs, MySQL, Big Data, MongoDB, Couchbase, RedShift, Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX shell
•Demonstrated experience in leading team through mid to high-end Data Warehouse projects from inception through delivery
•Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills, communication and presentation skills.
•Proven ability to influence others across levels of organization and lead others.
•Solid understanding of both relational database models, dimensional data models
•Experience with agile development methodologies
•Strong sense of self-motivation, organization and detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
•Ability to thrive in change. Fast, flexible, cooperative work style with ability to reprioritize at a moment’s notice
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Proficient knowledge in designs practices including OLTP, reporting, and OLAP; big data processing and analytic technologies including Hadoop, R, and stream processing; standard and ad hoc reporting solutions; ETL and MDM data management tools
