The UX Designer: designs and develop digital user interfaces for Aetnas next generation of apps and mobile experiences that are elegant and intuitive, aligned with business goals, and centered in leading edge user interface design practices. The UX designer is responsible for the development of user scenarios, journeys, the design of informational architecture, and the creation of various levels of wireframe and interactive prototypes. The UX designer must be able to understand design challenges from both a creative and technical view, and propose innovative solutions.

Fundamental Components:

In support of mobile application and web interface needs, provide user centered design services including information architecture, UX design, wireframing, & prototyping

Develop a user experience (UX) design reflecting project goals, business requirements, technology parameters, and design constraints

Develop prototypes which put the project vision, user experience definition, content strategy and visual design into action

Implements user experience architecture by preparing wireframes and/or information architecture documents, interactive prototypes. Coordinates with visual designer, content specialist, and software to integrate site concept, visual design, writing, interface, and navigational structure; documenting structure and processes

Identifies user requirements by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods; studying how users consume content, including data categorization and labeling; meeting with focus groups and participating in usability testing

Maintains proficiency with, and awareness of client-side technologies, including but not limited to: HTML, Flash, Flex, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, etc.

Collaborates with visual designers to build prototypes based on style sheets, templates, style guide components, and other visuals provided, such as mockups

Works with the usability specialist to refine the design and prototype based on usability feedback

Organizes information by translating user behavior into interactive experiences illustrated by user experience definition deliverables such as user personas creation, task flow analysis, wireframes, storyboards, and others

Prepares interaction specifications, navigation rules, and organization of information

Stays current on user centered design best practices, industry practices, innovation and trends


-3-5 years experience designing a variety of solutions for web, desktop, and mobile.

-Online portfolio highlighting complex digital solutions

-Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, Axure, Omnigraffle

-Experience in designing for responsive web, iOS, and Android

-Experience in visual design


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
