Philips Database Architect (Patient Care Analytics Platform) in Andover, Massachusetts

Take on a dynamic design & development opportunity creating our next generation platform, from scratch. This new platform will host advanced medical applications from our industry leading Therapeutic Care & Monitoring Analytics organization.

We are looking for a Database Architect who is a self-started with proven skills who thrives in a new product development environment and demonstrates a consistent and aggressive commitment to the knowledge, skills, principles and practices that produce quality work and satisfied customers. This Architect should have significant experience in the design, development, deployment and ETL of databases in a cloud as well as on premises environment. You’ll be mentoring fellow teammates as well as serving a key contributor in the design and development of our future platform. The successful candidate will work defining the DB architecture, technologies, ETL processes, producing detailed designs, mentoring/guiding team and also involved in the implementation of the future Patient Care Analytics Data Lake and Data Warehouse. You are responsible for

  • Consult with Clinical and Analytics stakeholders to guide the design and development of the new Patient Care Analytics platform data infrastructure.

  • Identify both cloud and on premises database (SQL and NoSQL) and ETL technologies for use in platform generation.

  • Design and build a Data Warehouse and Data Lake using both relational and non-relational database technologies that are capable of supporting predictive analytics, benchmarking and big data.

  • Design and build ETL systems which aggregate data across a wide variety of Philips clinical systems.

  • Collaborate with other Product Architects to build tight data integration between other Philips products spanning the patient care continuum.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and their possible application and actively recommend and advise on direction for future technology roadmaps.

  • Mentor and guide the team on the development, deployment and best practices of the data platform infrastructure.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or similar technical field with 10+ years of professional experience

  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data in relational and non-relational environments.

  • Experience designing complex relational schemas and seeing them implemented into products

  • Solid experience with a NoSQL database deployment in the cloud (e.g. MongoDB, Couchbase)

  • Solid experience with a SQL database (e.g. MS SQL, PostgreSQL).

  • Experience designing and building ETL systems across disparate platforms and technologies.

  • A strong working knowledge of Java, C# or Python.

  • Experience in designing and deploying large cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS, Azure or Google.

  • Expert in database performance analysis and optimization tuning.

  • Experience designing/developing database reporting infrastructures.

  • Prior experience with an IMDB (e.g. Redis, Apache Ignite) a plus.

  • Relevant experience in the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC), and proven ability to work effectively in a Software Development environment which involves developing and maintaining multiple release branches.

  • Strong communication and organizing skills, and proven ability to interact and influence other technical leaders/architects in a collaborative fashion.
