Mercury Systems Digital Hardware Engineer in Andover, Massachusetts

Job Summary: As a Digital Hardware Engineer you will be focuses on continued engineering with post-release design support and new product introduction. In this position, you will be focal local lead that bridges between program/product management, system/architecture engineering, mechanical/CAD, software, and manufacturing. This position is for a seasoned professional individual contributor in the Hardware Engineering sub-family, who works independently with limited supervision In this role, you will have the opportunity to innovate with high-end embedded technologies to solve complex systems. You will be a part of a dedicated hardware electrical engineering team that collaborates within hardware and across the organization. Additionally, the Principal Hardware Electrical Engineer will support current and future product development, especially in the form of design improvements. There is an opportunity to collaborate with engineering teams that include hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, as well as supporting the customer and operations escalations directly. You will be a part of our Digital Hardware Engineering team. A high energy group which works together closely to help produce highly reliable rugged products. Members of the team, work side by side from whiteboard sessions, to engineering labs, to the factory floor ensuring products meet the needs of our customers and are delivered on time. Onsite Full-Time position in Andover MA or Hudson NH Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Solving complex issues arising in production and in the field * Evaluating and qualifying alternate components into existing products * New design efforts include bug fixes, cost optimization, yield improvements, and new features * New circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout support, plus hands-on digital, analog, and power circuit testing * Design-to-value activities and working closely with design engineering team members and technicians * Debugging, diagnosing technology, and root cause analysis from Intel, Freescale, Microchip, Xilinx, Altera, Broadcom, TI and beyond. Interfaces include high-speed Ethernet, PCIe, and DDR SDRAM Memory. Other support circuitry to include DC/DC power, Clocking, JTAG, SPI, I2C, UART/RS232, SATA, USB, and other IOs * Sustainment of released products * End-of-Life (EOL) planning of major components in existing products * Develop hardware improvements to resolve issues encountered in released products * Engage in process improvements to resolve issues in design and manufacturing * Supporting operations with transition of new design to production * Perform failure root cause analysis and documentation * Interfacing with customer support, FAEs, and external customers * Documentation of design and test * Create engineer change orders (ECOs) and update documentation Required Qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum of 4 years of electrical engineering experience in design, manufacturing, or sustainment or a Graduate Degree (MS/PhD) and a minimum of 2 years of prior related work experience * Experience working with electronic circuit design in areas such as analog, digital, microcontroller, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), or power supply circuits * Experience in hardware/software integration, and troubleshooting * Experience debugging electronics * This position requires you to access information that is subject to U.S. export regulations. You may only access such information if you are a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. government. Desired Qualifications: * Proficient with electronics test and measurement tools (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power-sources) * Experience in the embedded computer field * Experience with component and system level troubleshooting for digital, analog, and power circuits * Experience with environmental chamber and stress testing * Experience with scripting and diagnostics * Experience as team/project lead * Skilled at computer-based electronic circuit design, schematic capture (Mentor, Cadence) * Skilled at PCB layout analysis and review (Cadence Allegro) * Requirements traceability Tool (JAMA) * Atlassian Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence) * Design for Reliability (DFR), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Cost (DFC), Design for Testability (DFT) * Highly proficient in failure root cause analysis * Hands on experience with Engineering Change (EC) processes, BOM structures, and new product introduction processes * Experience in system-level debugging on x86 or similar platforms * Deep understanding of manufacturing process * Capable of functioning in multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects Why should you join Mercury Systems?
