Mercury Systems HW Engineer Lvl I in Andover, Massachusetts

Job Responsibilities:

Mercury is driving state-of-the-art, high efficiency, modular power subsystems with advanced mechanical packaging methods using forced convection, conduction, and liquid flow thru cooling technologies. As Mercury continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, we are looking for a highly motivated, skilled hardware engineer with 1-5 years of experience that can grow with the company. This role will present the individual with challenging power supply design opportunities in addition to system level evaluation and testing to military standards.

Responsibilities address of the module electrical design including, but not limited to:

  • Functional Specification generation

  • Schematic generation

  • Cad Layout support

  • Component selection/evaluation and stress derating analysis

  • Analysis & Simulation using LTSpice or similar tools

Examples of design activities includes power distribution boards, power circuits, power supplies and backplanes. The role is expected to expand as the candidate grows.

The candidate will perform debug and bring-up testing of prototype hardware in the lab and support compliance testing in the field relate conducted and radiated emissions and susceptibility.

Minimum/Basic Job Qualifications (skills, work experience, education/credentials):

BSEE with relevant experience preferred

Entry level to 5 years of experience

Strong understanding of both DC (12V, 28V, 48V, 270V) and AC power circuits

Schematic capture tools such as DX Designer

Familiarity with Circuit Cards and PWB CAD tools such as Cadence (Allegro) or PADs

Circuit analysis tools such as Spice/LTSpice

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Systems / Architecture education is a bonus

Knowledge of power circuits and cables

Skilled with Microsoft Office tools

Knowledge of Military systems and typical requirements for electrical systems in a rugged environment

Familiarity with military standards including MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704

Intimate knowledge of ANSI/VITA standards

Cursory knowledge of ATCA and PICMG Standards

Skilled with use of Oscilloscopes, Loads and Sources
