Position Title: Information Assurance Specialist
Location: Andover, MA
Duration: 1+ year
You will serve as an advisor on technical and policy matters, involving the security of information systems assigned. In this role, you will partner with IT system administrators to assess unclassified information systems to assure compliance with applicable IT security policies, including but not limited to compliance with National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-171.
As a RIO you will support risk assessments and assist with selection of IT controls to achieve compliance. Your role will also include conducting reassessments of information systems with an expiring Authority To Operate (ATO), assisting with the development of remediation plans and making recommendations to grant ATO for an IS to the Chief Information Security Officer.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
The position is responsible for scoping, planning/designing, delivering and maintaining systems based on needs/requirements of the group. The Systems Administrator will play an active role within the organization on a continuing basis and must be able to adapt and learn quickly.
Attention to detail and completeness of work (e.g., documentation) will be expected. This person will also be called on for consultation and support of different Group projects, often with interesting and challenging computing constraints.
Responsibilities will include providing technical support to users, provisioning new research systems, updating system configurations, solving user problems with application compatibility, installation, operating system upgrades and in general maintain a very heterogeneous computing environment.
-Experience implementing NIST SP 800-171 and/or NIST SP 800-53
-Security+, Network + Certifications or equivalent.
-Proven ability to assess system compliance against standards and IT Security Policies.
-Ability to identify risks and propose risk mitigation solutions to harden systems.
-Familiarity with processes to harden computer systems.
Nice to have
-Ability to participate on cross-functional teams to resolve complex challenges and shape future opportunities.
-Familiarity with audit concepts and strategies in a highly complex, regulated environment.
-Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation and influence).
-Familiarity with US Defense Security Service (DSS) audit procedures
