WATTS Lead Cloud Software Engineer in Andover, Massachusetts
The Internet of Things organization within Watts Water Technologies is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and development of connected systems for all Watts Water Technologies companies globally. The Lead Cloud Software Engineer is and important role reporting to the Sr. Manager IoT Platform and will be responsible for building self-service capabilities that improve our shared services posture, productivity, and reduce time to market within our residential and commercial platforms. Performs all other duties as required to support Watts Smart & Connected Product Strategy.The primary objective of the Lead Cloud Software Engineer is to collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure applications are designed for Continuous Delivery (CD) and are well-architected for their targeted business unit objective and reusable across our global platform. Responsible for building and implement the cloud platform solutions using IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS so that it is flexible, extensible, elastic, secure and reliable at large scale. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Leads software development projects, paired with business-focused engineering teams, as well as 3rd party platform engineering, particularly with respect to Cloud-centric development. They will help Engineering teams implement new cloud technologies for critical business applications.
Expected to assist in choosing the right cloud technologies for various business needs and executing on that choice.
Work with solution partners to review solutions and ensure CI/CD/DevSecOps needs are being met by the project team
Work closely with the IoT core team to ensure each project follows the reference IoT architecture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical project requirements.
Responsible for the release of new development projects.
Continuous research on new IoT trends and how they can be applied to future project.
Work with the Data Scientist to ensure proper alignment on data structures and analytics support.
Develop installation and monitoring tools for support and operations.
Provide guidance for hardware and software scalability requirements for production deployment
Participate in process improvement and setting engineering best practices with the team
Participate in on-call, remote or on-site support and maintenance activities as needed
Assists with special projects or other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field experience desired.
- No direct reports
5+ years of experience in Microsoft stack software development
Working knowledge supporting IT infrastructure technologies and standards including software & hardware life cycle, system configuration policies, security, hardening, high availability, disaster recover, etc.
Understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends and how it can be applied to Watts brands.
Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through with exceptional verbal and written communications.
Working knowledge of AGILE, SCRUM and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
Experience focused on Azure cloud environments and supporting infrastructure.
Experience planning, configuration, optimization and deploying Microsoft Azure solutions (IaaS, PaaS, VMs, active directory, Automation, Monitor, etc.).
C#/.Net Core (Preferred) or C#/.Net 4.5 or greater
Experience with Azure IoT services.
Able to code and utilize IoT protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, XML, SOAP, REST, JSON
Strong security background – HTTPS, OAUTH2, HMAC, SAML
Familiar with the following: Curl, Postman, Swagger, Wireshark, Message Analyzer
Some travel may be required (less than 10%)
