The RMD System Solutions and Integration (SSI) team is seeking a Solutions Architect to support design and development of complex, information systems for our customers. Qualified candidates will have experience working with system architects and design engineers to develop high-level and detailed infrastructure design artifacts.
This position may require limited travel for site installations.
The successful solutions architect will possess proven systems architecture and infrastructure design skills, applies industry advanced concepts (such as Cloud, SDWAN, Internet of Things, DevOps, hyper-converged computing and advanced communications technologies) while
leveraging excellent interpersonal, and communications skills to develop innovative, robust and affordable information technology solutions.
This position requires an active US Secret Security Clearance as of day one of employment, except in rare cases only US Citizens are eligible to obtain US Security Clearances.
This role will be based in the RMD DT Northeast US Site Tewksbury, MA, with frequent travel to other area sites in the local areas such as but not limited to: Andover, MA (most frequent other location), Pelham, NH, and Marlborough MA, as program business needs dictate. But home base will be Tewksbury, MA. Capped budget relocation will be available to the selected applicant if they are eligible per company policy. Budget amount will be discussed at the appropriate stage of our process.
Act as an Architectural Design Authority for the information systems, able to communicate risks and impacts of design changes to stakeholders
Maintain a strong understanding of infrastructure systems and services including, but not limited to, compute, storage, network, cyber, and virtualization/cloud
Promote and share technical decisions and choices made in the system architecture
Support the development of DT standards and reference architectures
Introduce and integrate current and future technology architectures and components
Oversee the architectural strategy of large complex heterogeneous infrastructures
Conduct Analysis of Alternatives, Courses of Actions, Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments on DT products and services
Develop and document systems solutions in accordance with approved engineering lifecycle products (Architecture and Preliminary Design packages)
Guide the planning, analysis/traceability of business requirements, architectures traceability, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing IT systems
Coordination and collaboration with various stakeholders to drive commonality and accountability amongst solutions
Facilitate the introduction of emerging, beneficial DT technology to improve execution, efficiency, and capability of new and existing programs
Ensure that team is strategically poised for the undergoing digital transformation by adopting automation solutions and DevOps tool chains to drive efficiencies
Collaborate across technical disciplines to resolve top priority program issues
Capture, monitor, and represents technical risks & issues of both DT and Engineering designs in programs and proposals
Provide personal development of key technical leaders through coaching and mentoring
Minimum Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or related STEM degree
8+ years of relevant work experience or a related Master degree and
6 years of related experience or in lieu of a degree additional 8 years of related experience for a total of 16 years
Experience in system architecture and engaging stakeholders to develop system designs for multi-level classified and unclassified information systems
Experience technical skills across multiple disciplines such as: cloud enabling technologies virtualization, automation, scripting, compute, storage, encryption, cybersecurity, etc.

- Experience with knowledge
of best practices in system security as it pertains to IT solutions
- Must be a US citizen, US Citizenship statues required as this positon needs active US Security Clearance as of day one of employment
Highly Desired Skills:
Knowledge of US Government security standards
Familiarity with architecture frameworks and views
Enterprise architect certification (ToGAF, DoDAF, etc.)
Experience performing design activities in an agile process environment
DoD 8570.1 IAT Level I compliance (Security+ CE, CISSP, or other acceptable certification)
