Raytheon Technologies Principle EDA/CAD Engineer in Andover, Massachusetts
Microelectronics Engineering & Technology (MET) Department is looking for an
Electronic Design Automation (EDA) / Computer Aided-Design (CAD) Engineer
to join our fast-paced microelectronics team.
MET, part of Raytheon Missiles Defense (RMS) business unit, develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications.
As an EDA / CAD Engineer within the Foundry Services / Design Enablement Group, the ideal candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day tool support, evaluating and deploying new EDA tools to improve efficiency, and support the growing demands of our design and modeling teams. The candidate will be expected to work with circuit and layout designers to identify areas for flow improvement, and to identify and proactively address future challenges and needs. He or she will also be expected to document EDA solutions, train the user community, and help develop and maintain foundry design manuals. Excellent communication skills are a must for this role.
This position will require a secret clearance.
Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
Develop, maintain, and enhance existing Process Design Kits (PDKs) for Keysight/ADS and Cadence/Virtuoso as well as various EM simulators
software for automation in a variety of languages and APIs (SKILL, AEL, Python, etc.)
Create documentation and provide hands-on training for design engineers
Work with vendor partners to track and resolve issues
Assist with setup and routine maintenance of compute infrastructure used for design and modeling
Implement DIVA and Assura DRC and LVS rule sets for design verification in MMIC and AMS technologies
Provide user support for internally developed PDKs and software systems for design entry, simulation, layout, and verification
Install, setup, evaluate, and deploy next generation design environments
Install and support third-party foundry PDKs
8+ years of experience supporting Keysight ADS and/or Cadence Virtuoso with increasing levels of responsibility
Direct experience with integrated circuit simulation and physical design / verification concepts and tools
Experience with Keysight ADS and/or Cadence Virtuoso PDK development including coding for PCells, DRC, LVS, and technology files
Experience with Keysight Application Extension Language (AEL) and/or Cadence Virtuoso SKILL programming languages
Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
Continuous improvement mindset
Proficiency with Unix / Linux environments
Experience with scripting languages such as Python / Perl
Understanding of integrated circuit manufacturing processes and concepts
Electrical Engineering background
Digital and/or analog circuit basics
Experience supporting both Unix / Linux and Windows design environments
Experience with revision control and bug/enhancement request software tools is desired
Experience writing code using OpenAccess API and Python scripting language is a strong plus
MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or STEM related major
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or STEM related major.
