WATTS Quality Assurance Automation Engineer in Andover, Massachusetts

The Connected Solutions Shared Service (CS3) organization within Watts Water Technologies is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and development of connected systems for all Watts Water Technologies companies globally. The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is an important role reporting to the Senior Manager, IoT Platform and will be responsible for taking ownership of our internal testing framework and additionally maintain and improve its capabilities to support Watts Smart & Connected Product Strategy.The primary objective of the Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is taking ownership of our internal test framework and additionally maintain and improve its capabilities. Responsible to design and develop performance tests, automated integration tests for connected products or solutions, execute tests, trouble-shoot defects, and working with individual development teams to resolve issues.   • Develop, maintain, and support post-deployment automated AD B2B & B2C tests using a scalable framework.

  • Facilitate automated deployments in both QA, staging and production environments.

  • Maximize automation and minimize manual testing by utilizing modern software development best practices and cutting-edge testing frameworks.

  • Possess a 'Shift-Left' QA mentality where Quality is shared and owned at all SDLC stages.

  • Translate business requirements into functional and non-functional test cases for thorough coverage of features.

  • Identify test conditions, both positive and negative, from User Stories, Product Backlog Items, and other requirements documents.

  • Assist in testing and de-bugging during pre-deployment and post-deployment stages.

  • Coach team members on technical concepts and implementations.

  • Research, recommend, and implement tools for test automation.

  • Identify improvements opportunities (proactive and reactive)

  • Perform full stack integration testing within our continuous integration/ continuous testing/ continuous deployment pipeline.

  • Work with individual development teams to resolve issues identified.

  • May occasionally need to manage temporary contractors or 3rd party services related to Cloud Ops

  • Assists with special projects or other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related field desired.


  • This position has no direct reports


  • 5+ year experience designing, writing and performing test automation, integration, performance and scalability testing

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge in software quality testing principles, practices, and patterns

  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both written and oral

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Understanding of the latest trends and their role in a commercial environment

  • Self-development skills to keep up to date with fast-changing trends

  • Experience with Azure IaaS/PaaS (App Service, Worker Roles, ServiceBus, Cloud Services)

  • Strong experience with RESTful API

  • Experience designing testing frameworks for large and complex platform services

  • Experience with Datalakes and Object Storage, InfluxDB or any time series database testing

  • Experience with App Insights or any other APM

  • Experience working with GitHub Actions, Containers, Dockers and Kubernetes

  • Experience with deployment automation

  • Some travel may be required (less than 10%)
