The U.S. government is investing approximately $400B over the next 20 years to modernize our Nuclear Strategic Deterrent capabilities—including major recapitalization of our Nuclear Triad. These are complex and expensive programs that must be delivered in a period of greater strategic competition.
MITRE is accelerating Conventional and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Weapon Systems integration to maximize Nuclear Deterrence and we need your help. We are driving Weapon Systems integration by leveraging Digital Engineering & prototyping to analyze alternatives and drive requirements for NC3 interfaces, converged communications infrastructure, and cyber operations.

This position provides challenging opportunities to apply and expand one’s systems architecture modeling, and trade space analysis skills. Areas of interest include Model Based Engineering (MBSE, MDA, MDD, MDE), Systems of Systems, architecture modeling, analysis of complex systems, and decision support.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Developing prototypes using Java, Python and related programming languages
Modeling architectures of complex systems using standards-based languages (ex. SysML / UML)
Evaluating and comparing alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques
Articulating major uncertainties associated with systems architectures, defining risks and opportunities associated with the uncertainties
Supporting requirements management, interface management and architecture change management processes
Translating analysis results into actionable recommendations for the US Government agencies
Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances
Must be US Citizen
Active SECERET Clearance; Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a TS/SCI and SAP DoD clearance
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
Experience in object oriented programming to include: Java , Python, C#, C++, and C
Familiarity with SysML and UML modeling tools to include Cameo
Project-based team work experience
Ingenuity for applying a set of technical skills across multiple subject matter domains such as healthcare and defense
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word
Must have demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, PC, presentation, and communications skills
Bachelor’s degree in technical field of study
Knowledge of systems architecture and systems design and development. Understanding of modern SE methods
Experience with multi-disciplinary modeling and simulation (physics-level, engineering-level and/or operational-level)
Proficiency in one or more of the programming languages for quantitative analyses (ex. MATLAB, Mathematica, R)
Knowledge of Analysis of Alternatives, Verification and Validation, Design of Experiments, and data analytics
