Job Description

MITRE’s Network Technology and Security Department (L113) is seeking talented engineers with a background in networking and security technologies and a passion to integrate various technologies in innovative ways to solve hard problems. You will work as part of a collaborative team of scientists and engineers who are working to formulate solutions to our nation’s most critical problems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop prototypes of networking and security capabilities in MITRE advanced labs

  • Work in collaborative research teams to develop innovative solutions using commercial and MITRE developed technologies

  • Conduct performance assessments of current and emerging networking architectures

  • Collaborate with commercial vendors, academia, and other organizations to develop state-of-art best practices for MITRE’s sponsors.

  • Create opportunities for advanced research by developing proposals or joining existing research teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in the listed fields, or equivalent knowledge and skills. Degrees include: Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, Signal Processing, Mathematics, Physics, Device Physics, Solid State Physics, Integrated Optics

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Qualifications:

  • Passion for technology and a desire to learn

  • Familiarity with basic networking and security concepts/capabilities such as TCP/IP stack, routing, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic programming skills

  • Obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience working with routing and switching infrastructure

  • Exposure to network programmability concepts such as software define networking and programmable data planes
