Department Summary:

MITRE's Cloud, Network and Digital Service Engineering (L114) is seeking a Group Leader. The Group Leader will be part of leading a talented team of engineers supporting a wide range of important sponsors that typically revolve around Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Automation, and Network Engineering. The group leader will be approximately 7 to 9 direct reports. The successful candidate will work closely with the Department Manager and the other Group Leads, to grow technical capabilities through recruiting, training, and research. The Group Leader will be an active participant in department business operations, strategic engagement with portfolios and project leaders, and mentoring of staff.

This is an outstanding opportunity to shape the formation of the department and to apply management and leadership skills.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Active leader in developing department strategy to grow capabilities in Cloud Engineering, Network Engineering, and DevOps.

  • Key participant in Department leadership activities.

  • Significant contribution to meeting department recruiting and hiring goals in key skill areas.

  • Significant engagement with Project Leaders and Task Leaders to cultivate new opportunities, to match the right engineering talent to outcomes, and to ensure high technical quality deliveries.

  • Mentor staff to increase both engineering stature and opportunities for professional growth.

  • Significant contributor in finding work opportunities for staff that meet both staff goals and sponsor outcome priorities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years of related experience; or Master's degree with 6-8 years of related experience; or PhD with 3-5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

  • Highly skilled and experienced with Cloud Engineering, Network Engineering, or DevOps

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated management experience
