MITRE's Cyber Infrastructure Department seeks a passionate, creative Cyber Operations Engineer to support network defense and cyber resiliency in enterprise networks, as well as cloud-based and virtualized environments. The successful candidate will discover and develop solutions that allow AF systems to anticipate, withstand, and recover from cyber threats.
Collaborate with MITRE staff, project sponsors, and military personnel to develop and deliver practical solutions to warfighter problems.
Create and test architectural prototypes in MITRE labs to validate assumptions related to cyber security and cyber resiliency.
Build and understand networking solutions that block, reroute, or deceive adversaries in a contested cyber domain.
Use enterprise tools, such as Splunk, to detect network anomalies.
Apply artificial intelligence/machine learning to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the protection and defense of critical services.
Desired Skills (nice to have):
- Experience with Kali Linux, Security Onion, or other security distributions
Advanced experience with programming and scripting
Ability to write and present technical material in the form of proposals, white papers, technical reports, and presentations
Understanding of networking protocols such as Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP (management and configuration)
- BS and 0-4 years of relevant work experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field. Candidate should possess the ability to be responsible for deliverables or parts of deliverables to MITRE customers
