Highlights:

Join MITRE’s Electronic System Development and Embedded Security team to implement state of the art electronic prototypes for advanced sensor, communication, and navigation systems. Candidates will learn on the job as members of design teams to help architect and implement solutions for a wide range of challenging problems. We are interested in highly motivated candidates with a wide variety of interests and skills in FPGA-based digital hardware design with a focus on real-time signal processing systems. Key Functions:

This position provides an exciting opportunity to help design and prototype state of the art embedded systems using commercial and custom platforms. Typical opportunities include:

  • Real-time systems leveraging state of the art FPGA technology

  • Cutting edge communication and sensor signal processing systems using software defined radio (SDR) platforms

  • Advanced architectures for high throughput signal processing

  • Low SWaPC, highly integrated custom platforms

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

We are interested in highly motivated candidates with a wide variety of skills, insatiable curiosity, enthusiasm, and the ability and interest to dig deep on challenging technical problems. Required qualifications include:

  • Enrollment in a BS program in Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • Exposure to digital system design at the Boolean logic level

  • Exposure to FPGA development tools

  • Exposure to programming and knowledge of one or more RTL languages such as VHDL, Verilog/System Verilog

  • Exposure to scripting languages such as TCL, Python, Perl, etc.

  • Awareness of good digital design practices including approaches to design, implementation, verification, testing, documentation, and debugging

Preferred Qualifications:

One or more of the following skills are desirable:

  • Understanding of digital design principals

  • Understanding of RTL (VHDL, Verilog/System Verilog)

  • Understanding of scripting languages (TCL, Python, Perl, etc.)

  • Exposure to software defined radio (SDR) platforms

  • Knowledge of RTL synthesis, simulation, implementation, and debug tools

  • Knowledge of basic signal processing concepts (MATLAB)

  • Knowledge of implementing signal processing algorithms

  • Knowledge of communication, RADAR, and/or positioning/navigation systems

  • Knowledge of low-level hardware/software system debugging

  • Knowledge of commercial wired/wireless networking protocols

  • Knowledge of development practices including design and code reviews, testing and regression, revision control, and user documentation

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Students need to be currently enrolled and will be enrolled the following semester in a full-time accredited degree-seeking university.\
