The Enterprise Computing, Information, and Security (ECIS) Center seeks a Chief Engineer (CE) who will be responsible for driving the development of technical solutions that advances MITRE’s intelligent enterprise and good growth strategy. This entails evolution of technical capabilities, experimentation of new technologies, rigorous technical quality needed for operational capabilities at scale, and partnering with stakeholders across the MITRE Sectors, Labs, and corporate functions. The CE will oversee technical strategies, architectures, and roadmaps that inform investments and new capability development. The CE provides both systems-of-systems and in-depth technical leadership across a range of disciplines including infrastructure, software, information technology, knowledge management, and information security.
Essential Job Functions, Accountabilities, and Authorities:
Drive new technical solutions for the enterprise that are catalysts for MITRE’s business, mission impact, and good growth strategy.
Ensure that portfolios/projects across ECIS are driving coherent enterprise change.
Advance new architectural approaches that lead to a more capable, scalable, agile, and secure enterprise.
Lead development of technical solutions and approaches in our enterprise that can serve as an exemplar for MITRE’s sponsors and partners.
Advance the infrastructure and service offerings to the direct program across the full spectrum of unclassified, classified, sensitive, and advanced computing needs.
Drive technical quality across the range of new capabilities as well as operations and sustainment.
Enhance the ability of ECIS to manage the enterprise technical baseline using architecture products, standards, and increased automation.
Provide technical review across a range of activities --from system-of-systems trade-space to key implementation topics.
Drive a continuous tempo of experimentation and initial operating capabilities to accelerate innovation and mitigate technical risk.
Advance the intelligent enterprise strategy, including identifying new areas to develop and areas to shape out of, guiding investments, and ensuring that the strategy is strongly aligned to the most important needs of MITRE.
Identify disruptive technologies, new business models, and novel integrative solutions that can provide significant benefit for MITRE.
Mentor, train, and develop the chief engineers and senior technical staff within ECIS.
Contribute to staff development, talent assessment, and planning (hiring, mentoring, and training needs), including senior staff across Centers.
Participate in furthering initiatives that cultivate MITRE’s cultural attributes across ECIS.
Partnership and Initiatives
Lead cross-Center technical initiatives with MITRE wide impact, potentially involving visibility with MITRE’s Board of Trustees
Lead cross-Division technical initiatives with notable complexity, developing strategy for project execution and enterprise deployment.
Connect broadly and deeply with sectors and MITRE Labs, to bring an outside-in and direct program perspective to ECIS priorities and execution.

- Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
BS or equivalent and 15 years of related experience.
Demonstrated technical leadership in systems, software, and information technology domains.
A track record of bringing software and IT systems from concept to operational deployment.
The ability to work across a broad range of stakeholders and focus enterprise IT on solutions that advance the business, company strategy, and sponsor missions.
Experience in the application and oversight of technical quality.
Active SECRET clearance required, with ability to hold Top-Secret/SCI clearance.
Current experience with key enterprise technologies to include zero trust, IDAM, SaaS solutions, knowledge management, and infrastructure automation.
Knowledge of practices and tools for enabling information security and compliance.
The candidate should have experience mentoring and developing other technical leaders.
A track record of industry outreach and partnering, as well as external technical stature.
MS or equivalent and 15 years of related experience
