Department Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HR Technology Release Manager to join our dedicated HRIS team at the MITRE Corporation. As the Release Manager, you will play a crucial role in creating and owning our release plans and managing all of the change activity related to our HR technology platforms. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manages Workday change activity including the project backlog, active projects, and the implementation of enhancements and fixes in the production environment.

  • Maintains overall release plans and release coordination across Workday products and associated applications.

  • Identifies additional functionality in Workday releases that should be considered and works with functional subject matter experts (SMEs) and application leads on adoption.

  • Reviews regular releases to determine potential impacts, coordinates actions to further assess and prepare for impacts to ensure uninterrupted Workday access and processing.

  • Proactively engages with functional SMEs in HR, Finance, and IT and their leaders to understand future system needs.

  • Performs activities related to Workday tenant management that include managing service updates, preparation, and refresh activities.

  • Handles incident tickets and change requests in accordance with change control, incident management protocols and service-level agreements (SLAs).

  • Oversees Change Control Board (CCB) process for the approval of requested work.

  • Acts as the primary JIRA resource, creating new filters and dashboards as needed to continually enhance and support production work tracking and reporting for multiple groups.

  • Owns the maintenance of the overall Workday roadmap; working with leadership to document the timing of major initiatives and their impact to the organization.

  • Owns the bi-annual Workday release strategy, working with business and technical SMEs to ensure successful product updates occur.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, human capital management systems, and issue tracking management platforms.

  • Understand release/deployment components along with risks and can ally controls necessary to mitigate.

  • Experience with change management and change control board processes and procedures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and explain technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Highly proficient in full MS Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience managing/supervising staff in a technology-focused team

  • Workday experience and/or Workday certifications.

  • JIRA experience.

  • Experience with other HR technology platforms.

  • Ability to be flexible; prioritize workload, proactively react to issues and consistently react to shifting deadlines.
