MITRE’s Enterprise Computing, Information, and Security Center is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a background in designing, implementing, and supporting storage, virtualization and cloud technology offerings. This position is an exciting opportunity for a highly technical candidate seeking to be part of a collaborative team that leverages automation to deliver infrastructure services for the organization. The ideal candidate will be able to gather customer requirements, develop roadmaps for new capabilities, and design/deploy secure systems and services within MITRE data centers and in the cloud.
The Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for the internal virtualization, storage, and backup infrastructure at MITRE. This role will continue to grow in the direction of automation as we make our services, customer portals and internal delivery easier to provide and manage.
Work with MITRE stakeholders to understand the business needs and constraints for new / enhanced processes, systems, applications
Provide guidance to stakeholders on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieve the project objectives
Define and enhance end-to-end solutions and technical architecture for the systems / business capabilities
Prepare system and process solution documents, models, artifacts, work products and presentations
Contribute to the overall planning of projects by recommending approaches, identifying resources, and developing timelines.
Leverage lifecycle implementation experience to anticipate changes required in project plans and processes.
Effectively communicate issues and alternative solutions. Take initiative to achieve value-added results and improve upon solutions offered
Collaborate with group and department leaders to develop product strategies and roadmaps
Assist IT Development teams in implementing projects within the enterprise architecture solution and supporting those teams with guidance and recommendations as needed
Develop and foster collaborative working relationships with project managers and team members
- Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
Direct experience with or certification in cloud solutions, such as AWS or Azure certifications.
Ability to map commercial solutions and industry standards to requirements meeting an evolving leadership vision
Direct experience collaborating on the design and integration a broad range of enterprise IT capabilities from multiple vendors spanning functional areas. Examples include Datacenter Virtualization, Software Defined Networking, Virtual Desktop Interfaces, VPN, Cyber Security and monitoring solutions, and general server and desktop OS management.
Experience designing, deploying, and working with automated enterprise operations and DevOPS toolchains such as Git, Ansible, Jenkins, Artifactory, Selenium, etc.
Experience using metrics and data driven analysis to provide solutions and improvements to existing enterprise services.
Strong knowledge of fundamental, vendor neutral IT operational concepts, including TCP/IP, Certificate management and cybersecurity protocols, backup, high availability, and disaster recovery, windows and linux engineering, and general internet and enterprise services.
Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to senior leadership.
Possession of, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret Level Security Clearance
Strong customer relations, documentation and oral communication skills
The ability to analyze information from multiple sources for complex problem resolution
The ability to work independently, prioritizing major tasks by overall impact.
The ability to create architectural plans and relay information to operations teams to execute in a clear and concise manner
Self-Motivation, strong work ethic and commitment to quality
A passion for learning about, and working in the IT industry.
Experience designing and supporting enterprise storage systems including flash, spinning disk and object storage to support virtualization, VDI, database, and general enterprise services
Experience with desktop and server virtualization technology
Strong knowledge of general IT technology such as networking, OS Administration, and scripting
Solid program and project management skills
Strong communications and documentation skills
Candidates will have proficiencies and experiences across a broad range of enterprise technologies.
Experience in administration, troubleshooting, and project tasks relating to the following products are ideal:
Enterprise Storage system design & support
Pure Flash and Blade
IBM/Cleversafe Object Storage
Backup, recovery, & archival design & support
Server Virtualization technologies
Desktop virtualization & End User Compute (EUC) technologies
Configuration Management products tools
Security+ or equivalent certification
