  • Within Defined SLAs, perform day to day system administration, sustainment and advancement of Corporate and Classified server environments

  • Provide innovative ideas that enhance, expand, automate and/or optimize the systems and services supported by the Operations team

  • In conjunction with teammates and others across the organization, provide support for various technical projects that affect the Operations team

Key Functions:

This entry level or early career position is focused on the sustainment of Corporate server platforms and services with a focus on MITRE’s Microsoft Windows Servers. The position will support oversight across the entire Windows portfolio of services, but will also learn to contribute to MITRE’s backup infrastructure and automation program.

  • System administration of Windows server platforms – to include, but not limited to:

  • Operating System Administration

  • System builds, changes, repairs and removals (both physical and virtual)

  • Application and Project support

  • Reporting and analysis of key metrics

  • Triage and closure of support tickets

  • Day to day support of system backups (oversight, reporting, requests)

  • Code development for Automation of routine and larger tasks

  • Provide periodic briefings to management on advancements and proposals for supported services



  • Hands on experience with Windows Server OS (Windows 2016/2019)

  • Understanding of DevOps/Agile philosophy (MITRE uses Chef as its’ primary automation tool)

  • Comfort with exploration and analysis of key metrics within supported services – provide reports and propose/take action to proactively address potential issues

  • Basic understanding of storage (SAN/NAS) and networking terminology and architecture principles

  • Basic understanding of Cloud technologies (both native and hybrid)


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to learn from others

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Versatility and flexibility to be able to work across multiple efforts in a dynamic work program

  • A collaborative mindset with an ability to work/negotiate across diverse teams and staff levels

  • Attention to detail and follow through on assignments is critical

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret level of government clearance

  • Participation in an on-call rotation
