The MITRE Corporation’s Resilient Communications Department supports communication capabilities used by the United States military and International partners across all domains from underwater, to aerial-layer, and space-based. The Resilient Communications Department’s focus is on creating and fielding adaptive communications and networking infrastructure needed for successful execution of different mission areas for Operations in Contested Environments (OCE). This involves modernizing fielded communications capabilities in the near/mid-terms and developing/fielding the next generation communications in all phases of systems evolution from concept exploration, through experimentation and development. DoD communications needs pose unique challenges to operate globally in dynamic or denied environments including the effects of electronic warfare. MITRE works hand-in-hand with Government sponsors to serve as technical advisors bringing domain experience and state-of-the-art solutions to solve unique communications challenges. The department’s primary areas of concentration are in RF communications, networking, modeling and simulation, system integrations, systems engineering, and software programming.
You will lead a small team to analyze communications and networking system capabilities at many different levels of abstraction to include:
Scenario-based mission-level modeling and/or simulation with multiple users and platforms operating in difficult (contested) environments
Performance modeling of communication waveforms given limited technical specifications
Network and protocol modeling of wireless multi-domain (aerial/ground) networks
Lead analyses of current and future communications and networking capabilities, derive results from modeling and simulation tools, form data-based actionable recommendations, and present to both technical and non-technical audiences
Provide recommendations for modeling/simulation tools, assessment approaches, and best practices to be adopted across the department
- BS and 8 years of relevant experience
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or similar field with 10+ years relevant experience
Experienced with developing models in MATLAB and review/troubleshoot MATLAB software developed by other team members
Experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis of RF communication systems, communications and networking protocols, or waveform performance
Ability to form problem statements from limited information and understand the “big picture”
Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead multi-disciplinary teams across organizations, as well an ability to frame and articulate technical problems in a systems engineering context
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance
MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or similar field
Familiarity with resilient communications technology and techniques, tactical communications and networking, sensor technology and networking, DoD command and control (C2) protocols
Experience with software development using Python, C/C++/C#, Git, tool-specific modeling languages, etc.
Possess active Secret or Top Secret clearance
