The MITRE Corporation Lead Offensive Security Engineer in Bedford, Massachusetts

MITRE’s Adversary Emulation and Operations Department needs creative and passionate people who will advance the practice of cybersecurity operations. We relentlessly innovate the art and practice of offensive assessments including purple teaming and adversary emulation. You will change the way organizations defend against cyber attackers. We work with government, industry, and academia, enabling the public and private sector to make threat-informed decisions and implement solutions to complex challenges of national and global significance.

As a Lead Offensive Security Engineer, you will:

  • Use your skills as an offensive security engineer and knowledge of adversary behaviors (ATT&CK) to test and improve defensive capabilities.

  • Define and lead adversary emulation engagements to show cyber defensive teams how to respond to real-world adversaries.

  • Use your knowledge of adversary behavior to advance ATT&CK.

  • Assist with the research and development of new tools and capabilities that emulate real world adversary behavior.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant experience such as red/purple teaming, penetration testing, or exploitation.

  • Experience leading teams and mentoring staff members to achieve demonstrable impact.

  • Demonstrated application of cyber threat intelligence, and how to study and model threats.

  • 1-2 years of experience with scripting or developing in one or more language (Python, C, C++, GO, JavaScript, Java, etc.).

  • Experience leading teams and mentoring staff members to achieve demonstrable impact.

  • Skilled in Windows and Linux system administration and command line tools

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.)

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Development of red team tools or exploitations

  • OSCP, GPEN, or related certification

  • Experience presenting technical analysis in written products and presentations, such as conference presentations, webinars, formal publications, white papers, blog posts, or podcasts.

  • Experience with hunt operations or blue teaming.

  • Experience performing offensive security assessments against mobile (Android, iOS) and/or cyber-physical systems (ICS/SCADA, IoT, embedded, etc)

  • Ability to possess and maintain DoD TS//SCI security clearance.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$109,600 - $166,000 - $215,900
