Department Summary:

MITRE’s Secure Enterprise and Cloud Architectures Department (L523) provides subject matter expertise and consulting to Federal Government sponsors in enterprise-wide security architecture, with specific emphasis on cloud computing, zero trust architecture, 5G, and networking technologies. The department advances the state of cyber security while leveraging the functionality and cost efficiencies of advanced architectures and technologies.

The department is part of MITRE Labs, MITRE’s foundry for innovation and disruptive solutions. MITRE Labs inspires breakthroughs in applied science and advanced technology to transform the future of U.S. scientific and economic leadership. Our goal: Deliver disruptive innovation to support our mission of solving problems for a safer world. Members of this department serve as trusted advisors to the top technical leadership in the organizations they support, including Chief Information Officers, Chief Information Security Officers, and program management leadership, and assist in addressing their most critical security challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design secure cloud architectures and services while working with leading cloud providers and important missions.

  • Develop and analyze enterprise architectures to provide effective cyber security capabilities for various customers.

  • Specify and implement cloud-based cyber security tools, techniques, and procedures.

  • Apply knowledge of network architectures, sensor technologies, and cyber threats to provide customers the ability to protect, detect, and respond to cyber-attacks directed against customer systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of related experience; a Master’s degree with 5-10 years related experience; or a PhD with 2-7 relevant years of experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

  • Knowledge of cyber security principles and their application

  • Knowledge of cloud, networking, and/or enterprise architectures

  • Ability to lead and work with others to solve challenging technical problems

  • Ability to interact with senior leaders present complex concepts

  • U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ISC2 certification

  • Experience implementing, developing, or managing systems using one of the predominant Cloud Service Provider

  • Experience with implementing or managing security incident and event management (SIEM) tools and security data lakes

  • Familiarity with the pillars of Zero Trust Architecture

  • Knowledge of US Government enterprise and network security concepts and solutions
