We are currently seeking a Senior Communications/Networking Engineer to join our Resilient Communications department which supports communication capabilities used by the United States military and International partners across all domains from underwater, to aerial-layer, and space-based. Our team focuses on creating and fielding adaptive communications and networking infrastructure needed to successfully execute different mission areas for Operations in Contested Environments (OCE). Our work involves modernizing fielded communications capabilities in the near/mid-terms and developing/fielding the next generation communications; all phases of systems evolution are considered, from concept exploration and experimentation, through system development and integration. DoD communications needs pose unique challenges to operate globally in dynamic or denied environments including the effects of electronic warfare. MITRE works with Government sponsors to serve as technical advisors bringing domain experience and state-of-the-art solutions to solve unique communications challenges. The department’s primary areas of concentration include RF communications, networking, modeling and simulation, system integrations, systems engineering, and software programming.

• Key Responsibilities:

  • You will serve as a thought leader in advanced networking concepts engaging with sponsors and within MITRE to analyze operational requirements, address networking challenges, and apply sound technology solutions to benefit sponsors mission areas

  • You will develop wireless network models and network control services for a variety of protocols and devices

  • You will analyze, experiment, model and simulate (M&S), emulate, and/or test DoD wireless networks

  • You will apply systems engineering concepts to shape the specification, development, integration, and test strategies of next generation military communications systems across the Air Force Portfolio

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M inimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in an engineering discipline

  • Experienced with systems engineering concepts across the development life cycle from development through requirements definition, system development and integration, and into verification

  • Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines to provide solutions to complex problems that require software, hardware, mechanical, and reliability approaches while balancing cost and schedule constraints

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across multiple organizations and engineering disciplines

  • Able to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in engineering disciple with 5+ years relevant experience

  • Experienced with one or more of the following concepts: communications technology and techniques, tactical data networking, distributed computing, satellite communications, command and control (C2)

  • Experienced with software development or modeling and simulation tools such as: MATLAB, C/C++, Python, OPNET, CORE, EMANE, etc.

  • Possess an active secret security clearance
