The Accelerated Weapons Systems and Readiness Department seeks experienced candidates with knowledge and interest in software design and development. Candidates should have experience with full-stack software and the software development lifecycle. The selected individual will be responsible for designing and developing application prototypes, reference implementations, and other operationally relevant software products in support of MITRE’s Department of Defense (DoD) sponsors, particularly the United States Air Force (USAF). The focus of this work is to accelerate transformational capabilities to the warfighter through prototyping, experimentation, and deep outreach to the operational community. This work is a critical segment of the Department’s overall work program which spans the F-35 Enterprise, Logistics in Contested Environments, and Weapon Systems Integration.

Minimum Qualifications:• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar field;• A minimum of 5 years experience in full-stack software design and development.

Required Qualifications:• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance;• Experience with Internet Technologies that comprise the OSI Stack Model such as TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, etc.;• Experience with object-oriented languages such as Java, C#, and C++;• Experience with mobile application development (Android OS, Apple iOS);• Experience with schema-based languages (JSON, XML) and scripting languages (Python).

Preferred Qualifications:• Active DoD Secret security clearance;• MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a similar field;• 8+ years of relevant experience including exposure to range of software lifecycle activities (requirements, design, development, testing, and/or deployment);• Experience with relational database design technologies such as SQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL;• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and CouchDB.
