MITRE's Collaboration and Social Computing Department is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. In this position, the ideal candidate will use their advanced technical skills to help solve tough collaboration and social computing problems for a wide variety of sponsors and help MITRE achieve its goal of a safer world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist MITRE and government sponsors in the architecture and implementation of solutions to solve challenging collaboration and social computing problems in domains such as healthcare, intelligence, and defense

  • Lead simple projects or have accountability for project tasks; planning and guiding the work of others in the technical development of web applications and other software solutions

  • Apply rapid prototyping techniques and agile methodologies

  • Work independently and on a team to develop software prototypes using modern software engineering techniques with minimal instruction, guidance, and direction

  • Provide technical leadership in producing software solutions that address sponsor requirements and needs

  • Demonstrate expertise in industry standard best practices for software design, implementation, testing, and documentation

  • Leverage advanced software engineering knowledge and transfer that knowledge to others

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related job experience

  • 4+ years of related experience with programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python and C++

Required Qualifications

  • Strong fundamentals in software engineering, object-oriented programming, web application development, and software architecture

  • Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, systems

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts comparable to those obtained with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates holding an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance are highly preferred
