Lead Software Engineer and Architect

Location: El Segundo, CA,

Clearance: Top Secret/SCI

This role will serve as the lead Subject Matter expert (SME) and trusted advisor to Air Force Sponsors for Enterprise Software Development Process, Architecture Design, and Platforms. You will use their expertise in software architecture and systems engineering (SE) to design and influence software development environments, processes, and development using industry standards and best practices.

  • Assuming a key role in developing, integrating, and implementing mission direction and objectives, providing technical recommendations through rapid prototyping and experimentation, executing technical solution performance with rigorous attention to detail, and focusing on delivering detailed and coordinated technical recommendations on all platform, software integration and architecture designs and processes.

  • Identifying key areas of innovation and investment where MITRE can actively engage sponsors and provide technical recommendations through rapid and agile development processes, providing responsive and decisive advice on complex mission directives and strategies involving technical document preparation/presentation to division directors and department leadership, application of company policies and procedures, and enterprise project execution to support mission needs.

  • Actively collaborate with the project leader and task lead on software architecture direction of the project.

Lead Software Engineer - Cloud Computing and DevOps

Location: Bedford, MA, or McLean, VA

Clearance: Secret

The focus of this work is to accelerate transformational capabilities to the warfighter through prototyping, experimentation, and deep outreach to the operational community. This work is a critical segment of the Department’s overall work program which spans the F-35 Enterprise, Logistics in Contested Environments, and Weapon Systems Integration.

  • Responsible for designing and developing application prototypes, reference implementations, and other operationally relevant software in support of MITRE’s Department of Defense (DoD) sponsors, particularly the United States Air Force (USAF).

  • Work with both experienced MITRE engineers and government representatives.

  • Proposing, designing, implementing, and testing software to support Continuous-Integration/Continuous-Delivery (CI/CD) strategies throughout product and infrastructure lifecycle, as well as identifying and implementing process improvements to make agencies more efficient.

Lead Communications Modeling Engineer

Location: Bedford, MA

Clearance: Secret

Join MITRE Corporation’s Resilient Communications Department supports communication capabilities used by the United States military and International partners across all domains from underwater, to aerial-layer, and space-based. Our team focus is on creating and fielding adaptive communications and networking infrastructure needed for successful execution of different mission areas for Operations in Contested Environments (OCE). Our department’s primary areas of concentration are in RF communications, networking, modeling and simulation, system integrations, systems engineering, and software programming.

This role will lead a small team to analyze communications and networking system capabilities at many different levels of abstraction to include:

  • Scenario-based mission-level modeling and/or simulation with multiple users and platforms operating in difficult (contested) environments

  • Performance modeling of communication waveforms given limited technical specifications

  • Network and protocol modeling of wireless multi-domain (aerial/ground) networks

  • Lead analyses of current and future communications and networking capabilities, derive results from modeling and simulation tools, form data-based actionable recommendations, and present to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Provide recommendations for modeling/simulation tools, assessment approaches, and best practices to be adopted across the department
